I dont buy into victim mentality especially when statistics dont back it up.

They are the 'most affected socioeconomic group' everywhere in the world.

Stop blaming white people.

But you weren’t talking about seasonal jobs. You said year round employment. I’m suggesting Cornwall adopts the London model. Of course it will mean abandoning traditional attitudes and way of life but that’s apparently a good thing.

Oh, but I was talking about seasonal jobs. That's where this particular diversion started.

Everywhere else isn't London, which has its own particular set of circumstances, some good, some bad. Some like it, some don't. I have no desire at all to live there again and haven't had for more than 50 years. I had to work there for many years, but always lived outside, sometimes a long way outside. If you want to, and you can, then why not? That's everyone's right.

OK. Because you said
What folk want here is long term employment, like everyone else.
So that means longer seasons?

You miss out the first sentence, which sets the context. It was:-

"I refuse to believe that you don't understand how short term holiday jobs are filled by students and others"

And these longer term jobs? What are they because they’re the ones you need new arrivals to fill. Or is that just a good thing when it doesn’t happen in your own back yard?

Doesn't anyone else see that this whole problem is underpinned by the constant inappropriate use of "white" and "black" to describe people?

There are no white or black people! There are some ethnic groups who happen to have different skin colours. There are many more who have mixed ethnicity, with a variety of skin colours, who self assess as "black" or "white".

The world doesn't have white and black people. We just force them to categorise themselves as such because it's so easy to see their skin colour and much harder to see their character.

This is a societal problem which is evident on both sides of the divide. It's deeply embedded. It's to be found everywhere. In government, the media and right here in this thread.

Only when everyone stops talking about skin colour as something which is important when assessing a person will these problems stand any chance of being solved. And it will take a very long time after that because the injustices are real, but they are not caused by skin colour. They are caused by prejudice about skin colour.

The local people here need full-time work just as much as any other region. In fact, there has been a lot of EU money spent here to encourage firms to set up back-office jobs here, as well as high tech manufacturing. There is a ready labour market available, with lower than average wages and a good lifestyle.

Cornwall Council is very worried that us leaving the EU will have a negative impact on the support being provided.

And how would these locals feel if they had to compete for those jobs with thousands of new arrivals who were prepared to work for lower wages?

They were agrarian socialists in terms of foreign policy. The entire point of invading Poland and Russia was to create 'living space'. Hitler's ultimate aim was to return the German population to one that primarily lived on the land. Envisaged German farms and homesteads to be dotted about all the way East to the Volga.

The image of the 'Simple Peasant' toiling away amongst fields of crops, working for the common good, was an incredibly popular trope in Nazi (and to the same extent Soviet as well) propaganda.

Always makes me smile when Soc.Libs refuse to accept just how socialist German National Socialism (the clue is in the name) actually was.
