Potter will be an unmitigated disaster of ginormous proportions, any should be not touched with the eponymous barge pole.

I find myself in agreement. Actually, why Chelsea hired him in the first place is a bit of a mystery, his record is just ordinary.

This morning, after the various media reports regarding Potter, I was inundated with calls and messages and the overall view was one of negativity.

Whomsoever it turns out to be, it needs to be an appointment for the long term. We have the unenviable status as being the club with highest number of managers since birth of Premier League in 1992: currently sitting at 27 Managers in that time, 2 ahead of Soton

Too much turnover - we will only attract folks with a season to season outlook and not taken seriously by credible candidates.

The average premier league manager is 2-3 years. Look at this season and how many managers got the sack.

I posted recently that we need someone with a 3/5 year plan in mind, another poster accurately mentioned that PL managers don't usually get that length of time. Turnaround is real fast these days, yet there seems to be no end of candidates, after all, one can become a multi millionaire by getting sacked...

And there lies the problem. It's a curates egg, do badly over a couple of season's and you get served your P45 but do really well and one of the top 7 or 8 clubs is bound to at least put out the feelers as for one of a crop of managers they may want to talk to. Unfortunately we sit outside those top 7/8+ teams.

But too much turnover and we have had 27 Managers in 31 years. Difficult to foresee a solid 3-5 year candidate? I think I mentioned Slot here about 3 seasons ago...

Which is probably good news…..anybody who is viewed positively is usually a complete disaster…..look no further than the last permanent manager….less than 9 months ago he was the new messiah !

For once Lanzo I totally agree with you about Potter. Rodgers would be my first choice and if he turned it down I think Jesse Marsch would do well. If they offer Roy a director of football role a lot of managers would be put off as they know if they have a bad run he would take their job.

Other people on here have mentioned Cooper who would be great but I cant see him leaving Forest at the moment.

Who would you like as Palace manager? Rodgers, Potter, Cooper or anyone else?

I would like Roy for one final year give him a new RB, midfielder, winger and striker and top 10 can be a possibility. Long term would not mind Kompany or Carrick so if makes sense to give Roy one more year and Kompany/Carrick after a year can be a possibility.

Jesse Marsch ?? In God's name NO, American managers have been an embarassment in the Premiership.
& neither ex-Brighton scum with no real track record at the highest level.

Dont take Roy out of the equation, i am sure he would take a years contract, and i am in the opinion that McCarthy can be groomed to take over the role, at just the time when the youngsters will be ready, its a massive gamble to employ Potter but also his entourage that will come with him.

My hope too.

Fiscally sound and brilliant.

Unless it turns out sh1t
