Really don’t fancy Potter. The Brighton connection is a bit of an issue but I didn’t feel the same about Murray.
More objectively there is no end product to his pretty football. The analogy with PV is well made. We are a counter attacking side. I just don’t see how Olise would play Potterball or indeed Eze.
I have no idea who we should appoint but Potter is not the one. Rather Roy for another year although that is not moving forwards. I think we would end up with agent Potter slurs if he were appointed. It won’t end well.

For what its worth Potter's record at Brighton was

Played 135. Won 42. Drew 46. Lost 47. Win % 31.1.

For comparison Vieira's win % was 29.7.

Potter will be an unmitigated disaster of ginormous proportions, any should be not touched with the eponymous barge pole.

His PL win percentage is 24% though.

I think people need to look beyond number of wins, as points and even performances is more relevant. For example, while Newcastle only had one more win than Spurs they qualified for the CL and Spurs qualified for nothing, which was thanks to all the draws they achieved. Roy didn't win any more games than Vieira in terms of the reverse fixtures this season, but does that tell the whole story. No, of course it doesn't.

Putting rivalry aside I always enjoyed watching Brighton under Potter. If he could get us playing like that I'd be happy. Vieira got it right last season but ran out of ideas this one. I don't think that would be an issue for Potter. Also, he is known for the importance he places on community involvement which for a family club like ours can't be ignored. Whatever people might think of Vieira as a manager he fully embraced that side of the club.

One final reason for possibly supporting Potter is that it would be hilarious if we did the double over Brighton under Potter after he had failed to beat us once while in charge of them. They would absolutely f*cking hate that

Eddie Howe will be available soon enough when they bring in a big name.

If we did go for Potter, and all parties agreed I would like to see Hodgson in some sort of advisory roll.

Why? We have Freeman as Sporting Director/Director of Football or whatever his title is, if Potter is unable to manage on his own, why bother with him?

It was a challenging time at Nottm Forest who signed nigh on 30 players and a 'Bloated' squad can cause problems for a manager.

Win % is for the innumerate. Leicester had a higher win % than Everton. Lot of good it did them

Whomsoever it turns out to be, it needs to be an appointment for the long term. We have the unenviable status as being the club with highest number of managers since birth of Premier League in 1992: currently sitting at 27 Managers in that time, 2 ahead of Soton

Too much turnover - we will only attract folks with a season to season outlook and not taken seriously by credible candidates.

agree.
support will turn on him quickly if not a good start.
season before last (or one before that ?) they were well in the relegation mix until last handful of games.
its a total No.

In his first season at Brighton they finished 7 pts clear of the relegation zone.
In his second season they were comfortably clear of the relegation zone, by 13 pts.
