Dont take Roy out of the equation, i am sure he would take a years contract, and i am in the opinion that McCarthy can be groomed to take over the role, at just the time when the youngsters will be ready, its a massive gamble to employ Potter but also his entourage that will come with him. Last time I looked, he was still signed as a player for Celtic.

Who would you like as Palace manager? Rodgers, Potter, Cooper or anyone else? I would like Roy for one final year give him a new RB, midfielder, winger and striker and top 10 can be a possibility. Long term would not mind Kompany or Carrick so if makes sense to give Roy one more year and Kompany/Carrick after a year can be a possibility. Don't really understand this obsession with 'young' low experience managers, especially when a manager rarely sticks around for 2 years and it's clearly Freedman who calls the shots on transfers - evidenced by us seemingly signing Lerma with no manager in charge. Ignore the fancy suit and everything that goes with it and Mark Robins' CV makes a total mockery of Carrick's but he doesn't get a mention. Why would we not go for someone with >10 years' experience? Go for someone who's actually had to deal with a downturn in form and got a side out of it.

No to Potter, Rogers and co - all failures one way or another.

If Everton ditch Dyche that would do for me - no Roy or Ray required though

Another season of Roy and Ray, mentoring Paddy would be a good way forward. If not then the two leading candidates would be in my view Cooper if he leaves Forest, or Potter, who did a great job at Brighton and got much better results at Chelsea than Lampard?

I remain to be convinced that Hodgson wants a full year. It's one thing to do a rescue job over two and a half months and 10 matches - quite another to do a full season with its constant demands. Having said that, he may have agreed to be the back-up if Parish can't get someone else in, hence the rumours re Potter. I don't see thatit as Hodgson's nose being put out of joint. Time, of course, will tell.

I don’t get this , keep Roy as a mentor for Paddy. If Paddy needed a mentor he shouldn’t be given the job . Who ever does the job has to be full on, it can’t be someone having their strings pulled by someone else. Edited by Putitout (02 Jun 2023 10.20am)

Paddy needs to go elsewhere and gets his training and experience and if he succeeds come back. There were siren voices on here ages ago about Shaun Derry becoming our manager but hindsight has shown he is more a put the cones out guy not the manager.

Shaun Derry does have managerial experience at both Notts Co and Camb Utd.

He left us with some saying he should be our manager and did not cover him self in glory where he managed so he is more of an assistant to the manager. Edited by Badger11 (02 Jun 2023 11.21am)
