He gained promotion for Coventry from League Two into League One then into the Championship and into the play-offs for a place in the PL. I hold Mark Robins in high regard.
He gained promotion for Coventry from League Two into League One then into the Championship and into the play-offs for a place in the PL.
Coventry had to play home games at Birmingham for a couple of seasons whilst he was at the helm.

If it was any normal job, you'd be asking them to tell you about a time when:
You brought through youth
You managed a wantaway star
You progressed a stable team
You were flexible in your system
How you restructured a team after the loss of key players
etc
etc
etc

The only manager who hasn't failed Palace is Hodgson. Another season of Roy and Ray, mentoring Paddy would be a good way forward. If not then the two leading candidates would be in my view Cooper if he leaves Forest, or Potter, who did a great job at Brighton and got much better results at Chelsea than Lampard?

Having said that, he may have agreed to be the back-up if Parish can't get someone else in, hence the rumours re Potter. I don't see thatit as Hodgson's nose being put out of joint. Time, of course, will tell.

I remain to be convinced that Hodgson wants a full year. It's one thing to do a rescue job over two and a half months and 10 matches - quite another to do a full season with its constant demands.

Having said that, he may have agreed to be the back-up if Parish can't get someone else in, hence the rumours re Potter. I don't see thatit as Hodgson's nose being put out of joint.

I don’t get this , keep Roy as a mentor for Paddy. If Paddy needed a mentor he shouldn’t be given the job . Who ever does the job has to be full on, it can’t be someone having their strings pulled by someone else. All due respect to him , but McCarthy would be a massive risk, his first eight games would amount to a trial for his ability, Palace can not risk that, though it would give Roy thirty games this time to get it sorted. The league gets better more demanding every season, Palace have improved ,just to appear to stand still in many ways, and that at least must continue, but only someone with some sort of high level track record for dealing with the problems of maintaining a presence in the Premier league should be considered. Agreed. Paddy needs to go elsewhere and gets his training and experience and if he succeeds come back.

There were siren voices on here ages ago about Shaun Derry becoming our manager but hindsight has shown he is more a put the cones out guy not the manager.

Shaun Derry does have managerial experience at both Notts Co and Camb Utd.
Whilst at Notts Co he signed Hayden Mullins from Birmingham.

He left us with some saying he should be our manager and did not cover him self in glory where he managed so he is more of an assistant to the manager.
