I think most the hype around us getting Benteke was a result of watching Wickham fail week after week.

I have no idea why some on here seem to think he was, is or will be a good player for us????

I thought he did OK. Of course if he had confidence he should have chipped Roberto but the pass to Zaha was not a straightforward alternative with a defender between them. Also he contributed 5% towards Ayew's goal

I think Wickham is a talented player but my main grouse with him when he’s been fit is that he looks as though he’s playing within himself for large periods and doesn’t put himself about enough.

He was a lot stronger on the ball yesterday than anything seen of Benteke in recent years and made runs into the right areas. Again something Benteke has done little of.

His miss was poor. He looked surprised not to be ruled offside and he made a heavy touch which allowed the GK to close him down.
Think VAR would have ruled it out anyway (was it looked at on the telly ?)
