To make it worse when my wife qualified about 15 years ago she received a bursary during her three year course without which we couldn't have afforded for her to just stop working but this has since been scrapped and anyone wishing to become a nurse nowadays has to fund it themselves I guess we should add to those woes re: bursaries and daft degree requirements. EU doctors and nurses returning to the EU. The 'hostile environment' of the govt. to NHS workers from overseas. Where are we going to get doctors and nurses from and, really why would anyone from overseas want to anymore?

Well the entrance costs for British citizen nurses should be scrapped then.

What threads like this are good for, Cambridge began to make a good case this morning but thanks go to Sterling for confirming what I always thought. That the costs of immigration far outweigh those tax benefits MP’s and the left love to mention in every debate but are rarely challenged on the longer term, and that doesn’t include the savings taken back to Eastern Europe which is ironically what should happen to prevent the old age drain. Would be interesting to know figures on that kind of money movement on immigration vs emigration.

£64.4 million over the last 3 years or £59 thousand pounds per day - the cost to the NHS on translation services.......... now that would keep a good few old British people in care homes for a year or 3, or pay bursaries for trainee nurses.

Jesus! That the annual salaries of 2-4 nurses per day pissed away.
