76/77 Season Palace v Liverpool 3rd round of the FA cup I was 10, went with my Dad and his mate in his mates Silver MK3 2.8 Capri. Went as a Liverpool fan (I did not know better)came back a Palace fan Was it the right choice a 4-3 FA semi final win a few years latter says yes. Palace lost 3-2 but we scored first the place went mad. We were in the 3rd Division they were top in the first. Touched Kevin Keegans shirt as he got the ball for a throw in.

Remember Doris screaming one in at the Holmesdale from about 25 yards i think to go 1-0 up..was right behind it and yep the place erupted....happy days

I was also at this game.
school mate got bashed by scousers, mugged him & nicked his sheepskin.
THe Doris screamer of a goal - Holmsdale went berserk, but I think Keegan equalised within minutes, while the place was still buzzing.
Great, great game though!

I was there too. I reckon Doris broke the back of the net at the Whitehorse end not Holmesdale though. 42,000 were there and we were 3rd Div. Not bad.

defo the Whitehorse Lane end. And George Graham got a late 2nd at the Holmesdale end.

Agreed defo WH what a scorcher it was eh? amazing night
Was 42k att which I believe is still the record for a
3rd division side att??? perhaps some one could verify that?
Scousers mugging people surley not

I was at that game and I was sure Doris scored at the Holmesdale...admit my memory is shocking but I am sure it was the Hol not the WH - I seem to remember watching it scream in and I wasnt in the WH

November 72, Palace v The Leeds United Team

2-2 draw, equaliser scored by John Craven which as a 6 year old at the time was rather confusing that a 25 yard screamer could be scored by the presenter of Newsround.

Jackson, Mulligan, Bobby Bell - I remember them for sure - as well as obviously the previously mentioned Mr Craven - what a goal by the way.

he, he Sash. I loves it when you show signs of senile dementia.

For such a special game my dad treated me to a front row seat middle block of the Arthur. Doris came past with the ball tied to his boot, carried on, I was looking to my right - now had Doris and the top corner of the net in perfect line sight. He let fly. Into the Whitehorse Lane End goal.

7 may 1966, we beat Carlisle 2-0. Totally hooked (age 9) Finally got my first season ticket for the 1973/4 season for my 16th birthday present.

Still going now, coming up to 55. Best comment ever made about going was by my ex wife who said she thought I'd "grow out of it". she simply didn't get that it is more than a "hobby" (as she put it) supporting Palace is somewhere between addiction and religion.

I got my first season ticket for my 15th birthday in 1979. Two months after Burnley. Which was handy. The price????

A crushing £14

You'll get to the loft and forget what it was you were looking for. Then you'll remember that your house hasn't got a loft.

29th August 1972 Crystal Palace 1 Manchester City 0

John Jackson saved a penalty and the subsequent shot from his parry. We had that lovely 'Don Rogers' kit with the white strip in between the claret and blue. Up until then I'd only seen football on a black and white TV. This was under the floodlights on a balmy summer evening. The pitch was like a rich green carpet and the atmosphere was heady from the thousands of Palace fans in the Holmesdale and the smell of the hot dog stands! I was in the Arthur Wait which was almost brand new back then. Still remember it...

After that game I was hooked! Almost 40 years a Palace fan!!

Supporting Crystal Palace since 19.45 on 29th August 1972 (approximately)!
