1972. Home to Wolves. Lost 2-0. Got Peter Wall's autograph. My grandad punched a wolves fan. Hooked

76/77 Season Palace v Liverpool 3rd round of the FA cup I was 10, went with my Dad and his mate in his mates Silver MK3 2.8 Capri. Went as a Liverpool fan (I did not know better)came back a Palace fan Was it the right choice a 4-3 FA semi final win a few years latter says yes. Palace lost 3-2 but we scored first the place went mad. We were in the 3rd Division they were top in the first. Touched Kevin Keegans shirt as he got the ball for a throw in.

Remember Doris screaming one in at the Holmesdale from about 25 yards i think to go 1-0 up..was right behind it and yep the place erupted....happy days

I was also at this game.
school mate got bashed by scousers, mugged him & nicked his sheepskin.
THe Doris screamer of a goal - Holmsdale went berserk, but I think Keegan equalised within minutes, while the place was still buzzing.
Great, great game though!

I was thinking about this last night.

I don't remember my first game, which was (I think) when Matt Jansen played for us. That Intertoto cup game against that Turkish club was one of my first games.

Another of my first games was Portsmouth at home (my only game that season), we won 4 - 1 (I think, or it might have been 4 - 2), I think they had a man sent off.

My next game was again Portsmouth at home, the next season (again, my only game that season). I think we won 4 - 0 (or it might have been 4 - 1). I was thinking about this last night because someone said that its ten years since we beat Portsmouth at home, where have the years gone...

I was there too. I reckon Doris broke the back of the net at the Whitehorse end not Holmesdale though. 42,000 were there and we were 3rd Div. Not bad.

Huddersfield late '69 or early 1970. Freezing fog and sat on me dad's shoulders at the back of the Whitehorse. Didn't see much but remember the rather strong language from the gentlemen around me including my dad.

CPFC Vs Burnley 18th January 2003.
Finished 1-1 and I was one of 16000 others. Was in block W in the Arthur Wait. All I remember is how low the roof was up near where the AWM are (was sat next to some of them), and how little I actually saw of the game cos I was so short...

I also went to the following weekend's League Cup tie versus Liverpool that finished 0-0. Was in Holmesdale block E.

29/09/79 for me, 4-1 at home to Ipswich in what has become a still talked about classic. Palace went top of Div 1 as a result and Jim Cannon scored one of the best ever seen at Selhurst.

And to think I had to be talked into it by a schoolmate...

May be a bit out but if memory serves me it was £1.80 to get into the Holmesdale for U16s, and 20p for the programme.

When the club had all the large photos on display in the shop etc around the centenary I persuaded the club shop manager to part with a black and white shot of Dave Swindlehurst's scissor kick goal from the match above (fleeced me for £20 mind you) for sentimental reasons. I managed to get Dave to sign it during his stint as Whyteleafe FC manager, then tracked down Jim C when he was doing his club ambassador bit a couple of seasons back, and got him to countersign it with 'my goal was better'. Has pride of place in our downstairs loo now.

Funny how I can remember so much about that first game, but really struggle to remember results and scorers from half the games last season.

I went to a lot of games with my dad in the late 70's but I was just a toddler colouring in books with crayons and I have no real memory of them.

My first "proper" game i went to see was a strange one, back in the 80's, i think it might have been 86. It was Palace vs Japan under 21's. I used to stand at the holmesdale end behind a little concrete wall just behind the pitch. I think we lost 1-2 if memory serves correctly.

Come on Fuzz, you KNOW the 2.8 didn't come out until the 80s, it would have been the 3.0 litre

My first game was Palace 0 Preston 0 1978
