The first game that I can remember was Notts Forest in the FA Cup Feb 1965.
Was with my Dad in the Whitehorse.
I feinted !
Dad took me to the St.Johns Ambulance Hut in the corner.
We won 3-1 crowd 41,667 a record at the time.
We went out to Leeds in the next round, crowd 45,384 another record crowd.

I was at both those games unforgettable, I suspect with modern refereeing, Leeds would have ended with very few players.
My first was against Bristol Rovers in 63, Arthur Rowe was still managing, we were already promoted to div 2, Ronnie Allen's last match I think, saw Bill Glazer in goal, to me he looked like superman, able to fly dramatically above the penalty area, magic!!

Just looked it up Dick Graham had taken over.
Allen played more games.
Bill Glazier was a great goaly.

I met Bill shortly after he had left us for Coventry and he had a broken leg, hadn't played in a lot of games before the break.
We were out for a beer and he was with a guy named Curtis, who was tough nut centre back for Coventry, but he was actually a great guy.
Shame he left when he did but there was a bit of unrest at the club then, which caused his departure to some extent.

At that time Jimmy Hill's Coventry were our worst enemy,I think they came up from the 4th Div wit us,and Hill was already attracting attention, Curtis was a monster who went all the way to the 1st division with them.

A night game on 24th September 1974, stood on the Holmesdale against Bobby Charltons Preston - If memory serves he played as well.

We won 1-0 thanks to a Mick Hill header in the second half.

A love affair born..

76/77 Season Palace v Liverpool 3rd round of the FA cup I was 10, went with my Dad and his mate in his mates Silver MK3 2.8 Capri. Went as a Liverpool fan (I did not know better)came back a Palace fan Was it the right choice a 4-3 FA semi final win a few years latter says yes. Palace lost 3-2 but we scored first the place went mad. We were in the 3rd Division they were top in the first. Touched Kevin Keegans shirt as he got the ball for a throw in.

Cant remember the exact year but we lost 0-1 to Brighton and Peter Taylor was playing for us. I was very young and can remember it was a night game. We stood in the White Horse end and as we left could see a punch up just outside the ground. The result made no difference though Palace till I die.

My dad has always hated football but I persuaded him to take me as a 9 year old in 1973. I remember standing on the Holmesdale terrace and it started p!ssing down with rain, so my old man took a white carrier bag out of his coat pocket and stuck it on his head. I was so embarrassed

I also remember him taking me to the Wimbledon-Leeds game at SP (Can't remember the year)and nearly getting crushed trying to get out of the Holmesdale. The old man started shouting at some poor bloke who was inadvertently pushing me. His mate told my dad to feck off, my dad asked him if he was his fairy godmother and it all got a bit handbags. I wouldn't mind but my dad has always been a calm and reserved bloke. I'm sure the Palace bought out the worst in him

88/89 season in the old 2nd div (i think) v walsall.

We won 4-0 with Wright and Bright on the scoresheet. My dad took me and we stood in the holmesdale end. I remember struggling to see anything and getting a face full of the steel railings whenever we scored!

I started taking my boy last season as he's the same age when I started going. His would sadly be the 2-0 home loss to Newcastle , but it didn't put him off!

I went to that game too and I always remember it because I turned up late after cadging a lift from someone at all saints church to the ground and we'd scored already, maybe even 2 I think in the first few mins.

St James's Park Newcastle 1960/61

no idea of the score, just remember being sent down to the 'kids' pen over the tops of peoples heads & deposited next to the goal other side of the hoardings & then being 're-claimed' by my uncles after the game

oh, this was in the 'Gleizers' end as all my family (mothers side) are from Gateshead.

got told that the 'visitors' were from Croydon & therefore MY local team.....

NEVER supported anybody since.....!

My 1st game was our 1st game ever in the top flight....August '69. can't recall the exact date.
I was only 5 years old and remember nowt about the game other than it was really hot and there were loads of people.
Never had any say in who I'd support as apparently, when I was born, and as was the style in those days, it was at home, when my older sis and bruv were introduced to me as my mum was cradling me in her arms just after my birth, the 1st thing my brother said to my mum was...'when he's old enough, I'll take him to his 1st Palace game'.
I was cursed from that moment!

1st game was Palace v Norwich in the 92/93 season. I remember we lost, however I was supporting Norwich that day, mainly because we and my dad were sat near the away end. Think he was embarrassed somewhat, because he's Palace. The next game he took me, we played Man City, and I did the exact same thing!
