Eddie Howe - Staying at AFC Bournemouth - or is he?

Eddie Howe just on BBC South today news saying would be really difficult for him to leave, hometown club means everything to him, his actions have spoken over the past couple of years etc etc, just wants to concentrate on game with Plymouth at the weekend!!!1 He was at their training ground soaking wet....Hardly dressed for an interview..I think his heart will rule head!!! That's fine. No point in having him come in if his heart's not in it. Shame, I was hoping we could get him in, none of the other candidates float my boat. I'd be happy with a Freedman / Coppell partnership though...

from the interview: The Plymouth game on Saturday will be Eddie Howe's 99th game in charge and when asked if he would be in charge for the 100th, Howe said... 'I don't want to be awkward but I just want to concentrate on the game that we've got, we're in a great position in the league, we've got a massive game against Plymouth coming up and I just want me and the players to focus on that.' 'Our preparation will be exactly the same, it's difficult to tell what will happen going forward, but I can tell everybody connected with Bournemouth that my mind is 100% here at this moment.' Discussing the game against Plymouth and the chances of AFC Bournemouth getting into the automatic places in League One, Howe was asked if it would be a great time to stay... Yeah, we're in a great position and doing really well, we've had back to back wins and would love to make it three, it won't be easy, but we've got good momentum at the moment and the lads are playing ever so well so I've got no desire to upset anything and I just want to continue the momentum we've got.' When asked directly about the Crystal Palace vacancy, he was asked if leaving his home town club makes any decision harder. Howe concluded... 'Everyone knows my feelings for Bournemouth, I don't need to say anything to that, my actions have spoke volumes for what I think previously.' you're probably right, but isn't it exactly the sort of statement he would make if he wanted to start breaking the news to his loyal supporters gently? (I will now drift of into the land of wishful thinking)

I'd have no problem other than a tinge of disappointment if Eddie Howe were to choose to stay with you. However, if that crook Redknapp had anything to do with it I'd be gutted. Realistically though, the extended loan you speak of probably depends far more upon a brown envelope than on Howe's future! I don't think we're likely to have been handing over brown envelopes - even if it was Harry and Kevin Bond involved. Remember, they're both ex-Cherries managers. We know what they're like. Allegedly ;)
Never understood why he's remained popular with Cherries fans after that!

What it does do is back up the facts that we were already aware of - he is very loyal to Bournemouth and certainly will not take the decision to leave lightly. I've got nothing but respect for that - and will have no problem with whatever decision he makes.

its funny but i read the interview and thorght imediatly it was the interview of someone saying goodbye to the players today and fans on saturday and joining us sunday

its funny my mates a cherries season ticket holder and hes convinsed the deals done he bases it on nothing more than him and all his mates say it just feels different this time and people he knows are all saying they think hes going

its funny but i read the interview and thorght imediatly it was the interview of someone saying goodbye to the players today and fans on saturday and joining us sunday I agree with that, if he was certain he was staying at Bournemouth, why not say so, he's nkeeping his options open for now and as nuch as he loves Bournemouth and the fans love him, at some point he has do decide whether he wants to stay in lower league football with the club he loves or whether he wants to prove to himself and the football world he can produce results at a higher level.
Stay out the way of the Southern thing. |
