Our own Neil Ashton did a brilliant piece in the Mail yesterday as to why he hadn't yet moved. The conclusion of the article was could he still left at QPR once the window shuts and Neil's view reading between the lines was that he could well be. He is apparently regarded as a risk at the money being required due a cartilage injury and something else (can't remember what was said exactly) which, would undoubtedly come to light in any medical. He was also taken off 15 minutes from time last Saturday at Charlton with a knee injury.

As the 1st September draws ever closer and he is still there then surely both his asking price will drop and wage demands (£85k a week??).

His and QPR's problem is that the number of interested clubs has now reduced as they have probably got tired of waiting and gone elesewhere us being one if of course we were ever interested in the first place! I still fancy West Ham to take him.

With the arrival of Wickham and Bamford with the quality of murray, i doubt we'll have a look in but in my opinion we should just pay the 13m because he has more than proven that he can score goals.

Would you like to waste your spare £13m.

No I thought not, so why would Steve Parish & Co their £13m, if QPR deduce their valuation to a realistic £13 then maybe worth a punt, plus on a footballing perspective I'm not convinced he is better than the players we already have so why pay £13m for a player that may or may not even sit on the bench, Cabaye at only £11.4m is a much better purchase as is Wickham.

People saying that Austin may score none in a season for us? He scored a load last season in a poor QPR team, I know it's only one season, but what more could he have done ? If he has another season like the last he would be going for 25 million plus.
I would have paid the money for Austin a few weeks ago ( I wouldn't now), but I'd have given Wickham a miss at the money we paid.
Agree that Cabaye was a top top buy, but I honestly think that we have nicked him for the money that we have paid for him, compared for lesser players currently going for more.

On Sundays performance Wickham is the better bargain, he's younger and works harder, he created 4-5 chances not just for the one that hit the post which he outfought Mertesacker to get too, and he set up clear-cut chances for Lee, Puncheon, and others, with his unselfish play, Austin is a poacher, he works only for himself, his goal tally dived in the second half of the season once he was found out.

This, in spades. Obviously, time will tell how Wickham develops but the potential to make a lot of people eat there words is there.

He may have got found out ( or QPR may have as a team) or lost a bit of form.
I'm not going to make up my mind on Wickham on one game, but didn't like his energy levels, doesn't everyone work harder than normal in their 1st few days at work? Hope he works out well, but id suffer Austin if he came and scored the same amount as last season and did nothing else.
Wickham was apparently player of the tournament in the under 17 euros, so you'd think he has the ability, hope he isn't the sort of player that loses interest once he's financially comfortable, it happens, less so , I'd imagine with players that have come from non league and had a taste of the real world like Murray and Austin.
We shall see.

I agree with Sg & Syd. I was interested in Austin coming, but now we have a better (and cheaper) option in Wickham. Austin has injury issues with his knee and shoulder and 'may' be a 1 trick pony. Wickham is younger, has no injury issues, has scored in the prem for multiple seasons and is only 22. He has the ability, speed, size and potential to become a 15 - 20 goal a season striker if he progresses......

I see Austin's price dropping even lower. Its been reported that QPR have been fined 8 million due to FPP Regulations.

Don't know where that info comes from, as Newcastle are reported to have dropped their interest in Austin because QPR wont drop their price. [Link]

Also can find nothing on the FA or FL sites relating to that fine. If it's true I feel an earthquake coming on as there's a lot of very strong feelings from the likes of other clubs that stayed within the FFP rules.

This could still be on especially if Muzza and Gayle leave the club.

have a feeling any deal could involve Guardiora.

Steve Parish did say his hoping for two more signings,

hopefully one of those a quality centre back.

I agree, QPR have open interest in a couple of our players and seeing as no one is looking likely to match the 15 Million they want for Austin he could end up leaving in a swap/player cash deal.
