Happy Independence Day to all I voted leave as I believe the Executive body in a state/country/union should be democratically voted by the population. The EU Commission President is also on €300k annually; I am a strong believer in reducing Central Government spending on wages and expenses. p.s. I believe in Free movement and the Customs Union. The Commission comes up with ideas, but these are still voted on by MEPs, who we elect? That's no different to the Home Secretary (who is only elected as an MP) being appointed with no public vote and putting forward a bill that then gets voted on by elected representatives. Even then, for everyone moaning about unelected officials, we still have the House of Lords in this country!
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

You can vote out the government so bye bye Home Secretary. You can't vote out the commission....So the executive who determine what happens is undemocratic. The House of Lords cannot decide upon what legislation comes in. They can only ask for laws to be looked at by parliament again. They are a clearing body not a body who decides the direction of laws. We...the people can't vote out the commission. It is the commission who get to decide the direction the EU goes. We can vote out our government. It is the government who get to decide the direction the UK goes in...well it will in 2019. The very core of the EU is undemocratic.....and what this shows is that we have plenty of people happy to go along with that.

Time was if schools in an authority were crap you could vote out the council, but now you can't vote out an academy chain. All this outsourcing is making local government undemocratic.
