You see, this is the kind of blue sky thinking that has been missing on this thread. We could run boat trips around the stadium - another revenue stream.

Might need something bigger than a stream for boat trips!

Patience.

The longer it takes the better. No douby it will be a nightmare when we have a stand out of use. Touts will have a field day

As I understand, the plan is not to have a stand out of use, but to increase the capacity of the Main Stand (and keep it in use), before any work starts on other stands.

I can't see why we would take that US money for redevelopment, if it wasn't viable. The board must have done their homework on at least the Main Stand options surely?

The ''level'' of the water table is irrelevant tbh. If it were then we'd never have anything constructed 'underground'.
As relocation seems not to be an option, following the LFC model (constructing over existing stands) is the way forward and offers us the best value for money/least disruption for all.

Here's hoping for some news soon.

Time to move forward together.

It actually IS an option. You're correct in that the water table is high...but the reason the Holmesdale is flooded is due to the shoddy work on 'tanking' the basement.

It's feasible and is certainly being considered as an option. The boom in basement building over the last decade has meant there is far more expertise in this area now than when the stand was first built some 20 years ago...yes its THAT old now! Jeeez

You're right...the plans discussed at a Business lunch some 18months back by SP himself were to follow the same model as Liverpool with the main stand in that everything is built behind, up and then over the existing stand and when the top tier is ready move everyone up there whilst the old stand is removed underneath.

However...this was the plan 18months ago...

I understood we had engaged the same architects as are developing Anfield in order to build the new stand behind the one to be replaced leaving it operational until it needs to be demolished during the closed season revealing the brand spanking new stand behind it - ta da! We would never lose any seating that way.

You're both right.

I refuse to believe there are that many people out there that can't spell. Too f**king lazy, that's what I think.

Steve Parish should have some news about the plans in pre-season.

If Sainsburys and the local residents make the whole thing impossible, I wish we would negotiate with rail track over the Selhurst depot site. What a good location that is (was). Great transport link, no one to complain about being overlooked.

Move Selhurst to Burgess Hill one brick at a time.

I suggest placing floodlights on the back of the new stand to ensure the residents are not deprived of light. If we add in a few UV bulbs as well they can have all year round sunbathing as well.

Could do that. Seriously though, might it not be possible to angle mirrors just below the roof line to reflect light back down for the residents?

As an exiled South Londoner (commuting to Selhurst Park from the Wirral) I'm attaching a pic taken from our bedroom. The new stand at Anfield is MASSIVE. I don't know what the residents around Selhurst Park would think of something like this. Look at Goodison Park on the far left of the picture - and Goodison isn't exactly tiny.
