Unfortunately I am seeing a worrying similarity between our efforts to improve the stadium and those to improve the team. A bit of cladding, a lick of paint, a quick fix to cover the cracks. A last minute rush job by an expensive PL master builder to stop us crumbling away. We need to invest in long term foundations if we are ever to improve on and off the pitch. You make a good point. It all comes off like half measures at the minute.

Why should or would they until the time it's needed for the stadium. All very well to complain they could spend that money on players and then complain the stadiums not been done. But in the meantime everyone can moan that in five years PL status the stadium hasn't been rebuilt. Spoilt children, if that's what you think. i don't think it's unfair to question the speed (or lack of it) of the stadium redevelopment as we were told 3 or 4 years ago that stadium redevelopment would be a priority. I don't believe that is moaning. Most people appreciate there are complex planning issues that have clearly slowed things down but if we have employed the architects who re-built Liverpool's main stand, as we were told, why haven't we even seen a paper design for the new stand? That's normally the first thing that gets produced. In terms of the £50m American money it is a fact that the money is not in CPFC's bank account. I'm not saying the money isn't ringfenced and sitting elsewhere but I mentioned it as someone suggested we have already spent it - we have not. The Arthur represents about 35% of our total capacity and it is a terrible customer experience. The concourse is just not fit for purpose and there are not enough toilets.

It's not the difficulty of food and drinks purchases that bothers me, in still seems difficult in new grounds with lots of space and food is near inedible anyway, but the ability to go to the toilet in a remotely civilized way should not be too much to ask in 2017. at the end of the day naming rights will mean jack diddaley squat to us fans. It doesnt even bother me in the slightest if they have the naming rights as it will always, AlWAYS be known to us as sel hurst park and never sainsburys stadium
my boy is 5 and he will be brought up knowing its called sel hurst and not sainsburys as well

I thought the main stand had to be done (regardless of what league) on the grounds of health and safety. I think it's The Fire Safety Certificate, which I understood was on borrowed time some while back. I think the stand needs major refurbishment to comply, so it's going to be more cost-effective to wait until a new stand is built.

Too bloody right, I had a relative who was always banging on about building an extension or upgrading this or that room , knocking down walls, new toilets, staircases etc, all mouth and no trousers, quite ridiculous, went on for years and now nobody takes him seriously, is that what you want Mr Parish, cod that's what will happen? Time to replace the elephant with a brand new extension, hallelujah I agree 100% with Bexleydave, but I will not be naming said relative any time soon.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Stadium plans' by bexleydave You know I try to be level headed in my views (save in response to some extreme populist views elsewhere) but here i am right behind the impatient brigade. We are told we have US money that has been ringfenced for infrastructure I.e. ground and training improvement. Raiding the coffers every winter should make no difference as it involves taking from a different coffer. One problem is a wholly unsympathetic council unlike say Liverpool where the population wholly supports anything to do with the big teams; the voters and ratepayers around the ground are less than 100% behind the club. Nevertheless, an application will either be accepted or rejected. If rejected, there may be grounds for appeal if the aplication had good merit. In fact, such an application may have to go to the SoS meaning it bypasses the council altogether. Either way, put a good application together and you will get consent. So where is the application? The other excuse is the problem with Sainsbury's. Then again, I thought the 2 ancient main stands were going to be developed first meaning we can continue with those improvements while thrashing out terms with Sainsbury's at our leisure. Am I missing something ?
