For the money the scoucers want, I would rather go for Simone Zaza, Josip Ilicic and Bradley Dack, still have some change & no Afcon worries to concern us.

Which is fine when you're bargaining from a position of strength and, if you don't get what you want, you can comfortably walk away, knowing that another good deal is just around the corner. However, when you're bent over a barrel with your pants down and a huge wedge poking out of your lowered strides, and the seller doesn't give a f*** whether you pay up or piss off, you're not really in a position to start talking tough.

5 minutes at the top table and a good 95% of fans here have lost any idea of value for money, talking about the difference between several million pounds like its nothing, seemingly forgetting we were at the brink of insolvency a little more than half a decade ago.

Benteke is not the world class, worth every penny, 'just pay it!' player many here are making him out to be. He's highly form dependent, has had a few disappointing seasons now and when things are not going for him, he can be incredibly lazy and disinterested. Let's not get too excited here.

He's an upgrade, but then so are lots of players of players. Given that the Liverpool transfer comity seem to be just as inept at the business of selling players as they are buying them I think its about time we moved on. Two weeks is still plenty of time to arrange someone else.

I've got to say, I absolutely love the earlier reactions from the Liverpool supporters site. The player that they completely slagged out every moment he was at their football club and want to get rid of after one season is totally worth the 32,000,000 they bemoaned at paying last year? Because we just sold a star player?

£32 million ??, let someone else pay that, unreal amount for essentially , a failure at Liverpool, who will no doubt take best part of a season to be match fit, find his game and all the other excuses used when he doesn't score 3 goals a match.

I agree with you fella but you're also missing out the point that we're playing silly games with Liverpool offering seemingly less up front but more in add on's. They don't need to take a loss on him. You can guarantee that they'll get an 11th hour bid from Stoke, West Brom, Sunderland etc etc and we'll lose out. We've got a £17 mil surplus, soon to be £21mil with the Jedi sale. Do you think we should be arguing the toss over a player who will cost us £9mil? Bringing the total spend this window to a whopping £9mil...... Where's the caution to be had???
