What happens if he scores a goal? I suppose the good news is that West Brom would probably laugh his agent into the street if he came out with that. As to whether one should pay it or not it depends on the Board's assessment of what we IT bods call "total cost of ownership" (TCO). Given some reasonable assumptions, how much are we likely to be paying him altogether and how sensitive is that to the assumptions? Payment per assist and per goal might be good value if it carries the right incentive. Perhaps we should've done that to Adebayor.

If that's his current contract then I guess we should match it. Not to sure why this is news tho. For years and years and years players have been paid winner bonuses and goal bonuses.. Why would we not expect his to be in that range? I'm sure 15 years ago £5k was a normal to low level goal bonus, now money has gone to the bonkers then £20k assist bonus sounds about right? Crazy but surely it's just why everyone else is on? Problem is if he's on it the rest of the team will dually want to be on it. Why should Benteke get more for an assist than say Dann does? Or possibly more for an assist than say Wilf does for scoring. Maybe he'll cut other players in on it if they assist him in getting his assist.... :/

20K bonuses for Assists whatever next money for holding the up ball for more than 10 seconds, playing in other team mates, winning headers. For christ sake isn't that what their on the pitch for! If we sign him he will reputedly get just under £1m a month! I think that should include everything.

This is an absolute farce. Of course Benteke won't come to Palace now and I wouldn't blame him. Sometimes you have to pay up and look big. Going into the season with one fit striker is unforgivable. We look like amateurs...
