Benteke is a class act and as has rightly been pointed out still scored goals under a manager who didn't sign him and clearly didn't fancy him at all in a team who play the opposite style to his strengths. A bad season happens for many circumstances besides the fact of the quality of the player - he'd be worth every single penny imo. I'm not saying that he's not a good player and I know that he was not suited to Liverpool's system. However, I just think that £30 million is far too much for him

It is difficult to judge a player's value's in the current market because big clubs are prepared to buy players for more than they are actually worth, but in my opinion, someone like Harry Kane is worth around £30M however I know that if someone like Real Madrid were interested in him, they would be willing to pay stupid amounts

I know he kinda flopped last year so you're probably think we should pay £25 million but I don't think it works like that with a player who's proven in the premier league and got no hints about poor refuelling habits etc. We are spending money we have in the bank. This could really make a difference to our attacking edge.

Looks like they tried West Ham but got turned down. No deal is done until the ink is dry. Forget verbal agreements - they don't exist any more in this game for high-stake poker players. Or is he just a mercenary looking to squeeze another mil or two out of the negotiations? When is greed finally satisfied?

Very good points - I think its a bit of a balancing act between aqueezing more money out (yes, pure greed), waiting for a higher status club to enter thenbidding, and signing with Palace knowing he will be first name on the team sheet, and wanting to start preseason.
