Rafa remains my first choice, but another thought would be Gus Hiddink , isn't he free at the moment?

He's just a (fat) Spanish waiter.
bollo to that.

Eddie Howe-the long game appointment
or Fat Sam for blood n guts.
Wenger can fek off too.

info here, I found it quite interesting [Link]

Of course the one who did win the Euros did it with Greece. I think the problem we have, in this country, is there aren't many good English managers with the experience of handling 'star players' and the ego that goes with it.

When you have players who are, or consider themselves, stars at Spurs, Man Utd, City, Chelsea etc and then bring in a manager who they probably know as the bloke who kept Fulham from being relegated - They're not going to respect him (well not many of them).

And that's a problem, because English managers of top teams are nil. There are some excellent managers in this country, but none of them are used to dealing with players who earn 80-120k a week, and are regarded as rock stars at their own clusb (or in their own heads).

I think its telling that only two really successful English managers were Robson and Hoddle, both of whom were superstar players and icons.

He didn't have a prayer anyway. Too much of a womanizer for the FA.

I find it an absolute scandal that on the 100 year anniversary of the battle of the Somme the FA are considering a German to lead the England team

Just fast forward to July 2018 like I have in my mind and you know we will be having the same conversation about a similar outcome whoever they choose now.

The problem is the FA.

Just like FIFA and EUFA it needs tearing down and rebuilding with fresh faces and new ideas.

The FA could appoint the brightest young manager on the planet, but we would still fail.

There just isn't the togetherness with England, perhaps it's the money they earn at their clubs make them more motivated for them.

The BBC have just highlighted that the England Players and Welsh Players came through the same academies, yet you can see how much more the Welsh put in.

It's a shame, but the truth is that none of the Englishmen mentioned would even be considered at a premier league top 4 club. Bruce, Southgate, Allardyce, Pardew etc.

Arguably not as scandalous as someone comparing an offensive that cost close to one million lives with a game of football.

the dignified don't even enter in the game

I will as will many others.

There is pride and honour in leading your country and the fact we have to go foreign is a sad indictment on our FA which shows they have failed massively.

If there was evidence that a foreign boss would bring something new or a different philosophy OK but what did Sven and Capello bring? Nothing, it was same s*** with a foreign boss. Even Wales haven't gone Foreign and they've done well.

The right English boss is out there, to say there is no-one is just giving up.

Redknapp, Alardyce, Howe, Hoddle, Dyche could all do the job
