In truth, it makes no difference, but when you're 16 that s**t is pretty important. Socialisation with the opposite sex is probably the key. If you go all boys, then make sure they have some kind of outside school activity that involves mixing with girls is probably enough.

Plenty of people who went to mixed schools, like me, were pretty poor in the 'ladies department' until they got into their later tween years. Difference probably was that in terms of a mixed school, the ratio pretty much meant even if you weren't left out, because the options were much greater.

I think it does depend on the boy(s) in question. I went to various mixed primaries and Trinity which is all boys for most of my secondary.

I think most of the boys come out with a decent education but a larger number do struggle with nerves with girls for years to come.

Having said that I think I would rather my son struggled with nerves than had the attitude to women that a lot of my year group peers did at some of the local mixed schools.

Either way if the kid is bright enough and you push his hard enough then I doubt it will make a massive difference, but for what it is worth there is quite a lot of evidence that teaching boys especially in single sex environments is beneficial to them.

I went to an all boys school which academically was probably for the best as I was a gobby sh*te and would have spent most of my time trying to impress the fairer sex at the the detriment to my school work. I had no problem with girls, but they may be because my sister had a lot of school friends (She went to an all girls school) and we all all hung out together.
I think the answer is you know your son and what is best for him.
Anyway you don't really have to worry about chatting up girls these days that's what Tinder and such like are for

What I will say all my kids went to a mixed school and school is a much different place from my time

2. (on topic) Eldest goes to all boys grammar school in Bexley and is doing very well academically.
Next one goes to a mixed comp and is also doing well.
I think it boils down to parental engagement in kids edumacation.

I suspect it makes less difference that people think, because we tend to attribute things in our future to 'obvious' differences or stand out events in our past. But often, that's more of an excuse.

Going to a mixed or single sex school won't make you a loser with the opposite sex. Kids just mature and learn that s**t at a different rate, and in their own time.
