Back to the thread. Burnley have very little up front and if their defense plays like they did against man utd, we have a very good chance. Feeling quite positive about this one.

Are you being serious?? Their defence was given the test of their lives for nearly the entire 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet, I'd say they did bloody well!

You did see the game? Man utd had the most attempts at goal of any game so far this season. It was only crap finishing and great goalkeeping that stopped it being a cricket score. ..just one of those games for utd. Plus they're hardly likely to park the bus against little old palace.

The fact is that if we do not beat Burnley then serious questions need to be asked about the manager. Anyone who settles for "well they are newly promoted team with some spirit etc etc" is delusional. We should be beating Burnley.

Just like Mona U did last week at OT. Oh wait a minute......

If we lose at Burnley we are slap bang in the middle of the relegation dog fight .

And I bet Liverpool thought the same before Burnley beat them 2 - 0........

Its a banana skin waiting to happen, so we could certainly slip up on this one...but I am sure a lot of work has been put into defensive line up so as long as defence does tighten, I dont see Burnley scoring more than Palace. A fighting 0-0 away draw would be a decent result

My biggest worry is that they are very strong from set pieces and our defending from them is woeful

I've already mentioned that centre-half Michael Keane is a danger at set-pieces in the opponents box.I heard last night from a very good source that his defensive partner Ben Mee has a long throw and this could test us at set-pieces.

I think that their left-back Stephen Ward might be out - they can play Flanagan there but he is more a right-back. They could move Mee to left-back where he has played before and bring Tarkowski in to central-defence but they proably won't want to change tjheir central defensive partnership.Just thinking that Zaha could give them real problems down Burnley's left flank.

0-0 nil draw?? What ambition hoping for a draw at a relegation candidate with our significant investment into new players during the last window.
Feel it would be a wake-up call if we do not get a win what with Man City at home up next.

We have to win two of the next three games, accepting we will get nothing from Man City, but in order to keep out the fight for the bottom three places we have to beat the teams that are likely to be around us and since we have already given points away to WBA, Bournemouth and West Ham at home we must win at Burnley and Swansea!

Of course it's idiotic nonsense. Who cares what happened last season? This year is a new year with a new team. Does the table (all that matters) show last year's results as well as this year's? No.

All that matters is how we're doing this year, and we're 13th. Last year we got to a cup final. The year before AP performed nothing short of a miracle.

I'll repeat my assertion that you're a spoilt brat who would hound out any manager after they lost a few games and is incapable of looking at the bigger picture. Funny you should mention Moyes, he's taken over a club that's absolutely f*cked because it's sacked managers time and again instead of building something. Grow some balls, get some patience and get behind the team instead of moaning.

Hopefully see you at Burnley on Saturday. Up the Palace.

Excuse me if I've misunderstood but you appear to be criticising him for judging managers on a limited number of games and 'failing to see the bigger picture', yet also claiming that nothing that happened last season matters.

Surely refusing to take anything beyond the last 10 games into account is in direct contradiction to both of those accusations?

Yes it would, but if he really acknowledged the 'bigger picture', his argument with respect to Pardew's record would be exposed as mere flummery.

My point is that you have good seasons and bad seasons. The year 2016 doesn't matter, the 2015/16 season mattered, and the 16/17 season matters.

This season we are mid table. Last season we finished mid table and got to a cup final. I couldn't give a flying f*ck what happened between the months of X and Y.
