Obviously Pardew takes some blame, but if Sam can't keep us up with half a season in charge, he will have a large part of the blame too.
Don't excuse SA because you don't like AP and don't excuse AP because you don't like SA.

Just some blame? I don't see how you could find Allardyce equally culpable for someone else's mess.

Exactly. If I smashed a room to pieces and someone else was given the task of fixing it back up within a couple of hours. Whose fault would it be that the room couldn't be fixed in time? Cheeky little ananolgy for Sunday morning.

For some people on this site Pardew seems to have been absolved from blame and that the results of the last year were just a blip in Pardew's rollercoaster form pattern.

It's clear that people have an agenda with Sam, but to pine after Pardew is frankly bizzare! We scored goals this season but only because we had neglected the defensive side of the game, you can't bomb everyone forward and expectt the other team not to attack.

The defensive steel and fitness that had been instilled in the team thanks to Pulis fell to the way side. Which was clear to see with the number of late goals and the tactical deficiencies not to know when to see out a result.

What is with the myth that we played good football, as far as I could see it was intermittent, 20 mins here and there. The teams would quickly adjust to our "tactic" and then we would be left with the long diagonals.

With Pardew we neglected key positions despite numerous transfer windows. Left defence, defensive midfield and an attacking midfielder were sacrificed for one big signing in Benteke. At least Sam has seemed to address this.

In my eyes he made a variety of stubborn decisions that have not paid off. Dropping Speroni from the off, switching back and forth between the other two liabilities. Consistently playing Kelly at leftback even tho he was being ruined every game. Stripping the team of leadership and getting rid of Jedinak without a replacement. Making an example of Zaha, even tho he was clearly our standout player and finally dropping Puncheon in the cup final for someone who had been out for a long period of time. I despair at some of the mismanagement and lack of forward thinking we've had to endure all in the name of "transition".

People will bring up the cup run and of course it was brilliant but somewhat covered the massive cracks. I'm glad we're out of the cup, it goes to show how weak the depth of our squad is. Pardew really did bring in some dross, Mutch and Lee are prime examples and the jury is still out on Townsend and Mandanda.

The media have fooled some of the palace faithful into thinking they're too good to go down. For the majority of us we've seen that there was a problem long before the start of this season.

The fix won't be quick and Sam does have a job on his hands, people need to get off of his back! Whoever came in this was going to be a difficult job.

A bit early to entirely judge Sam, but you have to admit we haven't improved much at the back and are scoring less going forwards - those are the facts and it's clear to see for all those who go. A loss against Sunderland and that would all but end most 'support' for SA.

My question is - how long does Allardyce have? Until the end of the season? Will we keep him if we go down? All interesting questions, Hull chopped and changed twice, as have Swansea and its working out for BOTH of them now. Maybe we just appointed the wrong bloke and the reaction wasn't quite what we hoped - madness considering he's never been relegated and seemed the 'only choice'.

Big calls for Parish coming up, personally a defeat against Bournemouth and Sunderland then I'd take the risk and change again, sadly it wouldn't have worked out. But thats ok, don't need to think about that because we'll be beating both and finish 11th. UTP!!!!

Very well said.
It amazes me that some fans have any sympathy towards a man who has possibly doomed us almost singlehandedly to the drop and denied us a fifth season in the top flight.

Totally agree with everything Salford Eagle highlighted... I have been saying the same myself.

Allardyce now has a clear window of opportunity to start making a difference.

Look at our impending run of league fixtures compared to our 3 nearest rivals.

If we fail to pick up a decent tally of points and move away from the relegation zone then we can doubt Allardyce's abilities.

2 new players, Zaha back from AFCON, Remy back from injury.... we should be able to compete with all teams outside of the top 6.

And if after 3 hours the room didn't look even remotely better I'd have serious reservations about your abilities.
I backed Pardew out and Sam in, trouble is it is actually worse at the moment and constantly bleating about how we've been Pardewed doesn't wash and frankly is getting tiresome.
I had high expectations of new manager bounce getting us up and running, I now only have expectations of us going down. Sorry.

One thing that appears evident is the vast gulf between the respective abilities of Pulis and Allardyce.
Pulis took over a team devoid of results, confidence, organisation and league points. Very quickly he turned them in to an organised defensive unit that could break quickly in to attack and started picking up points.
Allardyce does not seem capable of the same rapid turnaround (and don't try to say its worse than what Pulis had to deal with) and continually makes his excuses before the game - hardly inspirational.

I wouldn't want Pulis back at the club but he at least while he was here worked his hardest to turn the results around. I'm not convinced Allardyce has the same abilities or desire!

You do realise that this new manager bounce doesn't automatically happen every time with every new manager and every new club?
Especially when taking over a shambles.

Well said, hope the AP fan club can understand the deep routed damage that he has done to this team over a 12 months period, did you see his beaming smile at Sutton United today, no doubt very happy with his severance pay packet, thanks to SP?
