Parish went on hol radio to say we were losing and going to keep losing £5 mil per year as a championship club but he was going to cover that with player sales.

To begin with there was Nathaniel Clyne, Ambrose and Scannell sold to almost cover one year and then Zaha covered just over 2 years. That’s very normal and sensible football and business management. Please tell me how it isn’t.

Zaha likely to go at the end of that season at the probable latest was why there was pressure on Freedman from Parish and co in the Bristol car park. We brought in cheaper players like Bolasie and Murray and Jedinak and Delaney and Moritz and used Garvan as a quarterback in a league he could handle the pace.

Again, tell me what is so bad about that compared to the many players Jordan signed in the championship for the usual £1 mil. Paul Ifill and Nick Carle stick out and Alan Lee at £750k or 800 wasn’t that good either.

Jordan made the mistake of not investing enough in the prem and instead throwing more and more money at promotion in the championship although the Cahill transfer we were used as a pawn and Dean Ashton took Dario Gradi’s advice and chose Norwich over us and arguably would’ve stayed up with us so Jordan was a little unlucky although we did rely on one trick or two with AJ. His injury the following season, a poor 1st leg vs Watford and a young Ashley Young was exactly when it started to go belly up with chucking money about he should’ve held back on to wait until it was worth it.

I seem to remember him having a few issues with Agents fees. I got the feeling that he would have spent more money had he not been so (and rightly so) incensed at their greed.

Simon Jordan has mentioned about this many times.

Did any one else here read Simon Jordan's book?

If you have not I would suggest reading the chapters about Palace very insiteful.

The book does go into a fair amount of details regarding the discussions taking place in here.

Some could say it is all one sided with Simon being bitter I do not agree with that.

A battle he could never win and then he wanted to throw more money at returning.

On the subject of Simon Jordan, one should remember that while he was Chairman his brother Dominic ran the club on a day to day basis. He was a very contentious sort who didn't seem to believe in paying bills until the last possible moment and then some. He also went through long term and loyal Palace staff like Sherman's March to the Sea, only General Sherman was not nearly as cruel as some portray him. I could write chapters on how he alienated many loyal Palace people, especially the late Chief Steward Ron Greatorex, with whom I maintained a friendship until his death.

I totally agree with Simon Jordan about how agents get paid from both ends. The fact that clubs also pay agents based on transfer fees is ridiculous. Agents should only get paid by their clients. That is supposedly how it works in the US, the agent gets a percentage of what the client signs for, usually 10%. A payment by a franchise (US) to an agent for the signing of a player would constitute an illegal kickback and would result in prosecution.

I guess haters are always gonna hate and nothing anyone says here or anywhere else will ever change that.

For me it's quite simple, Palace were screwed by successive owners/chairmen and had SP & CPFC2010 not stepped in we probably wouldn't have a club to support.

Given the mess we were in and where we find ourselves now, SP et al deserve some credit rather than continual slagging off.

Palace are now one of the best run clubs in the country and I for one am a keen SP supporter. SJ on the other hand can jog on.

define 'best run' and how we qualify as being one of them?

I think it’s virtually impossible for a club our size to be one of the ‘best run’ and stay in the premier league. If we didn’t live a touch beyond our means then we would probably be a mid table championship team (which most of us are used to) and there is nothing wrong with that.
That said I believe we are well run and in good hands and relegation when it eventually comes (hopefully in many years) won’t spell administration again!

I personally think we waste money in some areas and penny pinch where more should be spent in others. We leave transfers till the last possible moment to save on wages, which is fine if it wasn't for the fact that we often miss out to clubs that are willing to get their business done early. I think our wage bill is too high (6th highest in England?)

yet we often baulk at fees quoted for players that other clubs our size would pay in a heartbeat to get the deal done. The Benteke deal was pretty much on the insistence of the Americans. SP himself admitted he wouldn't have paid it.

I have not a lot against SP personally but a well run club we are not. Definitely room for improvement imo.

You seem to know a hell of a lot about what goes on behind the scenes with our transfer targets, transfer business and finances. If only Parish knew as much as you we might be an established premier league club making a profit every season with a massive beautiful new stand on the way.

Let's be honest here, on the basis of his performance last season, I'd actually agree with Steve Parish - he wasn't worth it!

Your post is contradictory, you moan about wanting save on wages, then say our wage bill is too high.
There is room for improvement in your point, as it doesn't make sense.
Glad Parish is running the club, instead some of the experts on here.
