Apparently (according to NSC, quoting Bloom) they're not planning on spending big on players or wages and no journeyman or marquee signings, which suggests that they're going to try and go with what they've got and should (hopefully) see them relegated by January. I get the impression that Bloom sees this as a chance to get his £250m back in one hit rather than a prolonged stay in the PL. I hope we do stay up so that we can take them to school, as usual.

Oh that'd be so hilarious. A season of defeats and Bloom running off with his trousers stuffed with cash leaving them potless. Don't get me wrong, I don't wish that on any set of football fans. I know what it's like to be relegated or struggling with money.

Oh hang on, I do entirely wish it on Brighton. Withdean awaits you!

I'm not suggesting that Bloom is going anywhere (although that would be hilarious), but rather that he's added up the TV money and parachute payments and sees a great chance to recoup his investment without putting too much more in. Presumably, like many on NSC, he thinks that they can 'bounce back' if his low-budget approach to the PL doesn't work out.

Didn't Watford and Derby try that a few years ago? I am not sure it worked out for them that well. After all that effort of getting into the Premiership, I would be amazed if Brighton didn't at least try to do something next year.

Not that I actually care.

Oh i do especially our arrogant no nothing pals from the s***hole that is Brighton...would love nothing more than to see them get a record low points total, relegated by christmas and donate 6 lovely points to us, then the midget Bloom take his money and run off to Australia leaving them pointless and potless! The only people who need worry are those that park near the ground and like to keep their wing mirrors...

That'll leave just two relegation spots to fight over then. Good.

I guess like we did in the beginning. It took us a little while to start bringing in the big names. It's worked ok for us (end of season pending).

This begs the question. Will Brighton be thinking "we need to follow the Palace model"?

Wasn't the "Palace model" under Holloway firing a scatter-gun and hoping for the best? I'm not sure that Parish would have had quite such a cavalier attitude to potential relegation, in 2013-14, as Bloom appears to have with respect to next season. Neither would I agree that Parish's primary motivation was 'getting his money back', as Bloom's appears to be. Plus, of course, the amount of money on offer next season makes the money, in our first season back up, look like chicken feed.

It's unlikely that any newly promoted team, with the possible exception of a 'big club' bouncing back, would be able to make any 'big name' signings in any event, but avoiding 'journeymen' as well, in your first season, is going to be quite a challenge. I suppose they're relying on their long-held belief that, if your stadium and academy are Premier League-ready, nothing else matters.

As soon as they get a whiff of Premiership survival, they'll start to get ideas above their station, bin off Hughton in favour of some urbane continental in a nice whistle, and talk about becoming a force in Europe. Ugh.

I too thought exactly the same thing....their squad is barely good enough to be where they are at the moment and have managed to keep the nucleus of their first team injury free; having to cope with the odd one or two out from time to time...we currently have 11 out...each of whom would walk into their first team.

To stay up they need to invest MASSIVELY in their squad...not just the starting 11 and they'll also need to overpay players to join them....
