You must be joking. The Toon chairman has promised to dig deep into his piggy bank for transfers so why would he want to come here

Why would Dyche come to us?

Coleman is more likely as his had his success with Wales so maybe time for him to move on.

Is it likely wales will qualify for the World Cup?

Because we are established premier league club that finished above Burnley (which is a s*** hole) and have better players. I don't want him mind.

Whenever we find ourselves needing a manager we are awash with suggestions on who it should be. But, we always look at names and who is available etc. Maybe we should actually look at what attributes, skills and attitudes we want in a manager and then look who fits the bill?

Disciplinarian or friend?

We have a squad who under the `pally-pally` leadership of Pardew slacked off. There were reports of some the players really not pulling their weight in training and this showed on the pitch as we could all see a lack of fitness and desire on the pitch. This rules Raneieri out for me as the evidence at Leicester is was this his style, great when things are going well but then unable to alter it when things are going bad. We do need a disciplinarian but be warned, go to far that way and you get a Felix Magath. Too hard and over the top and the manager loses the dressing room.

Defence orientated or attack orientated?

Pulis/Allardyce was very much build from the back, Pardew wanted us to play with swagger and put the opposition on the back foot. We all know which is better for us at the moment but after a while people get restless and believe we should be better than we are, when this transition happens is hard to judge. It has to happen at some point if you stay in the league, look at Hughes at Stoke he is trying to alter this there with arguable degrees of success. G too defensive and have no threat going forwards because you are too defensive and it doesn't work...look at what has happened to Karanka. Think we need someone who is defensive minded but gives some value to going forwards. To me this rules out Karanka at one end and Maldini and Howe at the other.

Experience?

For me this is a crucial one, and one that is the underlying reason we have lost probably the two best managers in Pulis and Sam we have had. I don't think it is a coincidence that the two who made us look the best were also the most experienced but this has also meant we can't keep hold of them. Both Pulis/Sam have been around the block a few times and are `big names` and they know/believe when they are called in to do a job the balance of power within the club is swung towards them `I've never been relegated, I know whats needed, do it my way and i can get you out this mess`. This may work at clubs that are willing to chuck money at it and/or chairman who are happy to give full control to them but Parrish is not like this. It's actually what makes Parrish so great as a chairman (he genuinely looks at the long term future of the club all the time, don't over extend, rarely buys older players for resale value etc). Put this together with the stature, facilities etc of Palace experienced Premier managers do not see us as a big upgrade in stature for them. At their times of their careers Palace are not a long term project.

If we want a manager to buy into looking at Palace as a long term project with which to make their name with we have to look at an inexperienced manager (I actually think Pardew was an exception to this, he had experience and I think he did buy into the idea of the long term project maybe due to his damaged reputation from Newcastle...it's a shame his actual ability did not match up with this for it to work). Naturally though inexperience at Premier level means `risk` for us. Another element to consider in the experience bracket is their credibility with the players. we do now have some fairly big name players: Benteke, Cabaye, Wilf, Townsend. They have to believe in the credibility of who comes in, very tough for someone with little experience.

I just can't see any likely experienced and successful Prem managers coming to us. Marko Silva is possibly one but he is still fairly inexperienced. Dyche is anothe but can't see him dropping his unfinished Burnley project for us. Maybe we need to find the next Dyche/Silva and take a risk and look abroad, Nagelsmann looks to have the best credentials for this to me. very young manager who took charge of Hoffernheim when they were in the relegation zone and with not too much spending has got them in to top 4 at the Bundesliga. We have a good team, it just needs to addition of a few (relatively) cheap squad players. If we could get him (or someone up and coming like him) with Sammy Lee at his side ready in the wings if it doesn't work its worth the risk for the first few months and if need be get rid of him with Sammy Lee taking over as interim, or even maybe Sammy Lee being given the chance to do the job himself.

Palace hoping to persuade him to move to South London. Good that Parish is moving quickly. Palace might be an attractive option in that there are a lot of good players at Palace now with the new arrivals in January, potentially a top 10 club

We're always potentially a top 10 club, but we keep on f*cking ourselves over in true Palace style, which means we're only ever a 'just above relegation' club.
