Just thought with a Dutch man about to be appointed as our new manager and big Orange winning the gold cup at Ascot is this an oman?

FFS how did we guess that you'd turn up to the proceedings like the person from Porlock (non-Coleridge scholars will have to look that one up) and put a dampener on the day. Can't we just have one day of flag waving, boozing and dreaming?

Porlock was a very gifted 'attacking' midfielder with 'two' good feet. He did tend 'to' drift in 'and' out of games. I believe that he was Coleridge' first signing as manager.

Funny enough a friend of man last weekend was talking about a Godolphin horse running at Royal Ascot by the name of 'Dutch Connection' - it never won !

Was that after he wrote 'The Ancient Mariner'?

OK, I looked it up. In US, the equivalent would be Sheridan Whiteside.

Paul was big fat sam's second signing and 'hardly' ancient. He was only 26. He was discovered wandering lonely as a cloud by sams then 'chief' scout name of wordsworth. He was eventually sacked for spending far too much time scouting an area south of Carlisle more famous for producing rugby 'league' players for daffodil infested places like Workington and barrow.

Paul Mariner's Asst Manager at Plymouth was John Carver who went on to manage Newcastle.

Goalkeeper Stockdale was mentioned on HOL quite recently - It was Mariner who signed him on 'Loan' for Plymouth.

Don't know what Mariner is up to these days.
