I'm not even Kenbaar. As for FdB, let's get him in and get down to the business of the upcoming Premier League season.

Paul Mariner's Asst Manager at Plymouth was John Carver who went on to manage Newcastle.

Goalkeeper Stockdale was mentioned on HOL quite recently - It was Mariner who signed him on 'Loan' for Plymouth.

Don't know what Mariner is up to these days.

Something in Vancouver maybe? If so he'd be following in the footsteps of former Plymouth manager Tony Waiters, who was manager of the Whitecaps for a while. I'm doing this without the aid of Willopaedia.

Paul was big fat sam's second signing and 'hardly' ancient. He was only 26. He was discovered wandering lonely as a cloud by sams then 'chief' scout name of wordsworth. He was eventually sacked for spending far too much time scouting an area south of Carlisle more famous for producing rugby 'league' players for daffodil infested places like Workington and barrow.

I'm going to go Willoesque on you now. The combination of Mariner and Bill Rafferty, at Plymouth, rivalled that of Warboys and Bannister at Bristol Rovers and Bruce Bannister went on the play for Plymouth. It is only fair to point out that I did spend most of my teens and early to mid-twenties in the Plymouth area.

I used to be a member of a team in a very challenging 'Football Quiz' league some years back. There were teams such as Blackpool,Chelsea,Reading,Sheff Wed, Burnley - there was even a C.Palace team !

I recall playing games at Barnet, at Gillingham's ground and at Dover's ground in midweek when there was snow on the ground. Some long treks !

Only if the specialist subject is Plymouth Argyle 1969 to 1979. A boy has to find something to do when he's exiled from SE London

Was Malcom Allison manager when you were down there ?
Also I have a feeling our former coach Mike Kelly was manager there sometime.

Although paul mariner did achieve the rare distinction for a footballer of gaining 'three' 'A' levels (equivalent to a masters degree today) he was, according ro my source a crap poet.

Please tell me you went (as I did) to England U23 v Bulgaria U23 in 1970 at Home Park? Norman Piper alongside the likes of Shilton, David Nish, Derek Parkin, Martin Dobson, Emlyn Hughes and Tony Currie in front of 28,000. I had to beg my Mum to let me go, as the ticket was a massive four shillings!

Great news, first choice or not who would have thought a couple of seasons ago we'd get a quadruple Dutch league winner...

Honestly it shows how far we've come in such a short time.

Super happy about this appointment!
