There is no solution, just years of periodic violence ahead with the liberal left still telling us how wonderful the things are that have led to the situation in the first place.

Let's not forget the West letting the Saudis off the hook over and over these past few decades and still continue to do so.

Think all those involved may have had a bit of influence in creating situations.

We are now a country where people are afraid to go out and to live but nobody is afraid to preach hatred against British citizens or sympathise with terrorists.

That's really not the right way round for me.

That's not really true, is it? Doesn't sound like the Britain/British I know. A bit more wary maybe which is only natural. I've been to two sold-out concerts since Manchester. Everyone turned up. No empty seats.

There is no such thing as a secular Muslim.

Of course there is. Like a secular Jew.

There are Jews who have openly abandoned their religion. However, Muslims that do are subject to the death penalty in many Islamic countries, it's a bit like trying to leave the Mafia. Has Khan disavowed his religion?

I know people that work in London as their base that aren't travelling in to work because they are afraid.

If your argument is that out of the entire population of the UK it's only the minority that are afraid then I might agree. If you're saying no one is afraid to live their life normally right now then I'm not going to able to take you seriously enough to discuss it.

We do have them.

It's the only realistic way forward for the religion in this country.

Nicely swerved...but your hypocrisy is noted

I'm not so sure that the cuts themselves can be blamed for a terrorist attack though...that's simply a lazy accusation based on your political stance.

It's far far more complex and nuanced then to simply suggest the cuts to the POLICE alone are responsible; sure they haven't helped...but what most people on here are missing is the fact that the Police are being asked to do so much more than they were 40 years ago...they're even Pseudo Social Workers now...mopping up people wandering around with Dementia.

There is clearly investment needed in National Security...but that's where it needs to be spent...MI5 should be doing the intelligence role, which then is back up by the Police.

I know tens of people in 'the job' who are overwhelmed with the variety of work they're asked to undertake, due to cuts EVERYWHERE...not just in the force.

Relieve the Police of all the extra burden that's cluttered up their role over the last 25yrs or so and let them get back to mingling with the Communities...simply saying that extra Police will address this is just papering over the cracks and not dealing with the real issue.

So it's a poor argument based on nothing more than ignorance and political bias.

Good. I'll ignore the sarcastic tones and assume we do agree with the original point I made.

What are Khan's views on apostates, homosexuals and the rights of women? What are his views on Muslims integrating with non Muslims believing in equality of worth between Muslims and non Muslims.

If I knew that, I could tell you if Khan is a mainstream Muslim or not.

I think he is a secular Muslim but as to his personal views, as affected by the religion, I don't know them.
