And some people doubt that the CIA/FBI killed him by proxy, just like Bobby Kennedy.

Errr...yes Irish Republicanism was a factor here....For a start travel between Ireland and the UK wasn't an issue at all plus we would even have collection for the IRA in in Irish pubs in London in the past
.
Is there anything else you can get wrong Kermit?

An area of agreement is that Wahhabism is a problem for all of us. The 9/11 attack came from individuals outside of the US but there's no complacency, there are of course plenty of individuals of concern on watch lists all around the west.

To focus....like you do, solely on Wahhabism as the problem that we need to solve is a complete misunderstanding of the actual problem.

It's social conservatism and western rejectionism...In extremist terms it's a small minority but still enough to have tens of thousands of people we have to worry about in this country....The problem is far wider than just one doctrine.

That problem will increase as the Islamic population increases as a percentage of the UK and you Kermit....You haven't just got your head in the sand....It's in the desert.

We will never agree on whom to target.

And what do you think of The Tories refusing to make public just who is funding extremism here and thus, by definition, the attacks on UK soil?

Basically the long and short of it is that the government knows that the rest of Britain are loosing their patient's with Muslims. The government are trying to keep the peace by hiding facts from the public.

When a quarter of Muslims sympathise with the charley hebdow attackers it doesn't take rocket science to see we have a problem.

You should be happy. They are protecting the policy you support. Mass immigration and all the s*** it has brought wth it.
The government has brought this upon us Labour and Tory alike.

Is this about the NHS now? But seriously, the public in general I don't think have an issue with individual Muslims (i.e. the ones they work with and interact with everyday, possibly without realising it) but with the hypothetical Muslim they don't know, but experience indirectly through the media and events.

The danger is when those two concepts melt into one another.

I think Lennon's other associations might have been more significant to Nixon and Hoover, like Bobby Seale or the anti war movement, plus their failure to have him deported. His re emergence after years of self imposed reclusion might have been the final nail. Governments change but the Thought Police don't.

One of the things I like about you, is that you know who this is (even though I'm pretty sure you're no fan of Newton and Seale).

And definitely so. Lennon also mingled with members of the Yippies and probably people in circles with the SDS and the Weathermen later the Weather Underground. He certainly knew Tim Leary as well.

Personally I find Lennon to be a tiresome self interested bore of a man, who just happened to be a very good song writer (intermittently so after leaving the Beatles).

Although 'Working Class Hero' is a blinding track - most of his post Beatles stuff is a load of f**king tosh.

I liked Lennon on some levels. Sharp witted and determined but naive in the world of politics. He was a product of his upbringing like everyone but happened to be one of the biggest pop stars ever in a time when he could have a voice beyond that.
I never liked the fact that he effectively abandoned his first son, since he had effectively been abandoned himself as a child but of course, aging changes your perceptions and he was a young and no doubt selfish man at the time.

Getting involved with the Black Power, Vietnam and the whole counter culture scene was his way to feeling more self important with a wife who appears to have encouraged that side of him. It was also easy for him to make associations with the likes of Seale and Rubin and easy for them to manipulate him for their own agendas.
