Last Summer after Tomkins, Townsend and Benteke it was a joke as well. Every Summer has been Parish trying to play clever on the last day and 2 years running its put us in serious danger, with some blame also laying with Pardew and Frank. In fact every season the transfer business has been left too late and poorly planned. The only summer it wasn't was when we got off to flyer and he started mentioning Europe and Pardew Chelsea jobs. Are you clear yet?

Just not true.Are you clear.?
Last summer we signed Tomkins Townsend and Steeeeeve early.
Benteke was late.
This summer Jairo and Cheek early,Mensa and Mamadou late.

Do you think we are a likely employer of a good, young and ambitious manager. Or will the number of manager/board bust-ups mean we're just too toxic for top talent.

Well Dougie was, then left for the Cash.
I suppose Parish could of given him a pay rise but it was early days in his career.
Obviously liked his player knowledge, bringing him back to the club.
Results business nowadays.
Lose games and the Manager goes.

Last year we signed no left back and ended up with flaming Flamini.

This year no striker or goalkeeper.

This year we signed Schlupp and Van Aanholt for a combined fee approaching £20 mill (Excluding add-ons) and neither are impressive at PL level.Yes we needed balance and a replacement when Souare was out but perhaps many will question whether this was money well spent.

In most jobs you receive an annual appraisal.

The process usually includes a review of past performance over 12 months and the setting of objectives for the next 12 months.

If you have been with the same company, doing the same job for 7 years and generally performed to a good standard, that can buy you some ' good will ' even if your performance hasn't been at that standard for a year or 2.

But eventually that good will fades from the memory and present day shortcomings come into sharper focus.

And that's really where I am with Steve Parish. I think he's had a poor last couple of years. I recognise his previous achievements, but he has lost his way and at the moment he faces a struggle to get back where he was.

His next ' Appraisal ' is due in May. He still has time to turn his situation around. And I hope he does. But he needs to significantly up his game between now and then.

Necessary at the time because of negligence regarding left back and def mid. Repeat repeat repeat, although I suspect it won't be worth doing this January and it'll be preparing for relegation. Something needs to happen for Parish to learn and nothing has achieved that so far.

He's been a good chairman up until the cup final on the football side and also a very very very lucky one that certain managers were available when they were and Zaha was our kid. He's overused the luck but still thinks it won't run out. It does.

Rudi

I wasn't inferring that we didn't need to bolster the squad at left-back, I am just questioning the choices we made and the money spent.

Suffice to say I was astonished when I heard the fees involved but I suppose this is what happens when one doesn't have backups and one is forced into a sort of 'Panic' situation.

Unavoidable, wasn't it? With Souare out all we had at left-back was a pardewed Kelly.

Yes I agree but perhaps this doesn't reflect well on our club that we were in this unsavoury situation.

At the time I cannot remember to many Holers saying we need a backup for Papa.
Obviously you aim to get two good players for every position.
Nobody new Papa was going to play 'Hunt the Shunt' on the Motorway.
As you mentioned earlier Pardew must take some blame and Flamini was not needed.
Striker agreed with,Pardew tried and failed twice on the goaly front.
