I have supported Tory governments over many years. However, I have always been on the centre right. I approved of the Ken Clarke and Michael Heseltine (who I once met and chatted with) approach. As I am very pro-EU and think Brexit was crazy, that's hardly surprising. So my issue with the Tories is recent. I detested Johnson and the way he put personal ambition over public duty. Truss was even worse. Sunik has restored some belief, but whilst he is becoming more realistic about the EU, he still isn't going fast enough for me. We need to get back in and the first major party that embraces that will get my vote.

Deprivation tends to increase when underfunding of services occurs and there has been a lot in recent years. We have been through some challenging times and the effects are being felt most severely by the poorest. It's happening right now, and it's not just in Labour controlled areas. Here is Cornwall, Camborne is one of the most deprived areas in the UK. George Eustice is their MP.

Action was taken though. Just action that has subsequently been criticised as non-effective. If the police were pressurised into acting as the scapegoats who knows what was put to them. I can imagine them being encouraged to do so in the interests of retaining public confidence that the government were on top of the problem. A few early retirements, job done!

Timely news for this topic… It appears that (shock horror) white working class men and women appear to be just as susceptible to group paedophilia and organised sexual assault. 21 of them over at least a decade. Rather obviously this horrendousness is not solely the preserve of one particular group, not that you’d know from the youtube fed tropes on here.

I look forward to it being exposed that the Police were aware of this white gang operating for years. Of the careers wrecked when officers/social workers tried to expose it. Of the paperwork concerning it vanishing from secure council safes. Because that must have all happened as well, based on your logic.

It's certainly just a theory. Whether there was a conspiracy rather less so. When the situation became more widely known isn't the same as when government realised that there was a problem that demanded a policy. Governments come and go, but the civil servants who advise them remain in place, and this is what, I suspect, was in play here. I am just looking at the chain of events and trying to deduce the most logical explanation. You don't have a series of police forces adopting broadly similar strategies unless there is some overall co-ordination. That has to be determined centrally.
