When I played my biggest asset was speed and I can assure you that when you are running at top speed it doesn't need much contact to send you flying, a gentle sideways nudge, a slight tap on the ankle is all it takes. Statistics show Wilf to be one of the most fouled players in the Prem and that doesn’t include the countless fouls we all see but are not penalised by refs. Is it any surprise that he anticipates these fouls and goes down to ensure they are penalised ? The opposition know that they can’t leave him alone because then he would destroy them so they lean on him and he goes down - and that is a foul and a pen in the area.

I agree with Henry of Peckham. Wilf always looks far too exultant when he “wins” a penalty. It would be better if his expression was more neutral - or even disgruntled at having been fouled. Incidentally, isn’t it time for him to step up to the plate - and take a penalty himself? Who’s turn is it next ?

Just because Wilf falls over through loss of balance is irrelevant. Definate offence by Sterling who should of been booked for the foul.

Appreciate your reasoning MK and to a certain extent I am with you. I don't see thinking we get a decision in our favor unfairly, as not supportive. And I am no stranger to a certain amount of hypocrisy either,as I would have celebrated a winner from the spot with a dance around the lounge table. For obvious reasons I can only make a limited amount of games a season but in the ground I don't think anyone could accuse me of not being supportive. However, I strongly feel about the whole game and the deliberate going for penalties and fouls in the box, overdoing contact, trailing your own leg or blatant diving. This was an example in my book of: not a dive, nor a penalty. Sterling was stupid to put his hand on Wilf, Wilf "made the most of it". I am not slagging him for that but as a whole, I do not like it in the game and feel it should not matter whether that is our own player or not. I have warned you before about supporting our players when they are being criticised by others MK. By the way you write much more eloquently when you are pissed !
