Of course, they're less exciting than Science Fiction would describe. I used to know this girl at university who was doing a PHD in topological space. F**k me she was on a different level of intelligence than any one I have ever met. Even my Brother in Law, who holds a PHD is particle physics, didn't understand most of what she was talking about.
