Lol, are you using 'fora' as some pretensious faux latin plural for forums? Kudos if so.

I may be a miserable c*nt right now, swings and round abouts and all that. However i do find the militant 'everything must be spun as positive or you're a terrible fan' brigade deeply tedious. Remind me of Boxer in George Orwellian's Animal Farm, "steve parish is always right, and i will work harder!"

Love it. The use of faux in this context is a peach. And the purposeful spelling mistake just had me roleing in the isles.

WTF DYM "faux" Latin? It's the correct plural in Latin and in English, where (IMHO) "forums" is clumsy because of the consonant cluster it introduces. An example of a "faux" Latin plural would be octopus - octopi (because it's a Greek noun, not a Latin one).

I work with databases, but I don't subscribe to the idea of datum singular - data plural (that would be correct in mathematics, to my mind). I would treat data as a partitive or mass noun and one item would be "an item of data". However, data are organised in a database according to something called a schema, and as far as I am concerned the plural of schema is schemata.

Granted that by the mere tone of your recent posts I thought your name was ironic, but I realise you can’t exactly have deep joy in the multicolour of the rainbold if red n blue on their own can’t make you happy!!

You really have to know how the system works over here to judge. Football clubs, player's wages and details of deals are public record which can be accessed online.

We have an open information environment in Scandinavia, which is how Sorloth's deal plus add-ons has become public knowledge.

He cost £300,000 7 months ago and could cost us £16.5m if add-ons are triggered. Add-ons such as playing 50 games and us staying up for 2 seasons.

Rakip, for example, was registered on 19th January by Benfica when they submitted his registration to the Swedish FA and then loaned to us 3 days later with a £10m option to buy in the summer.

Fact.

Just saying that doesn't make it anything of the sort and actually makes you look a bit of a wally. If Roy says there's no deal beyond the current loan then, unless you are saying he's a liar or doesn't know what he's talking about (which hasn't been the case so far), then there's no deal beyond the current loan, whatever the chip wrappers in your country say.

there is another issue. if he left for Benfica, then his move from Benfica to Palace would surely be governed by Portuguese/English transparency rules...not Scandi ones. or no?

expat, can you find/translate the article that explains how the journalist knows there's an option. I'm not as sceptical as Mr Bexley, but would love to know. (not the entire article just the bit where they explain how they know)

And I'm still confused why we'd have done it the way we have. Again, I'm NOT disbelieving you.

I don't believe that's the case. I will admit to having lost faith with Parish and the upper management (off the pitch) of the club. This window, after the horror show of the summer, appointing De Boer, crowing about 'dutch revolution', failing to replace Mandanda (twice now), one striker, sun coming up, coming on podcasts for a soft soaping and a whinge at the fans etc, has in all honesty made me far more negative about the running of the club than i've ever been. I feel here we are with the best manager we've had for years, and could realistically hope to have, and were i a betting man, i'd lump on big that he walks after keeping us up, such has been the piss-taking from Parish and Freedman.

So yeah, i don't go in for the happy clappy gee-up posts. Just call it as i see it, and at the moment, largely off the pitch i think we're a mess. It's tantamount to Roy's management that on the pitch we're doing alright, but when he walks in May, and we have Dougie in charge for pre season training, then it'll be a different kettle of haddock.

History is littered with players released by clubs for a variety of reasons from wrong attitude to not being good enough. Even Chelsea have done it recently with Salah, KdB, etc.

However, Rakip wasn't at Benfica long enough for them to make a judgement. He signed for them on Friday 19 January. He didn't train with them on Monday 22 January as he was in London discussing the loan deal.

When would Benfica have made a decision about his ability? He never trained with the team, not officially as a signed player.

Again, Roy's quote did not say we did not have an option nor did he say no fee had been agreed - what he is quoted as saying is that "a longer stay has not yet been discussed".

Quite simply, that could mean we've not decided whether to take any option up & I doubt any such discussion would happen until he's been around a while & we can properly assess him.

Exactly this! We have a option to buy for £10m but that does not mean the club think he will be worth that or that Rakip would agree to a move to Palace.

Imagine, he plays for us and sets the world on fire, gets a call up for Sweden, plays in the World Cup. Do you think he'd take a move to Palace over a bigger club?

From what I know about the player and from what Malmö fans say about him, he is a brat who has no loyalty.

I'll judge him by what he does for Palace but option or no option that does not mean Roy is wrong or lying.

As Obi Wan said, it true. From a certain point of view.
