By her own admission she had drunk one beer.

Even the post by Silvertop that you'd misquoted is odd, as it starts off by saying those on both sides would have already made up their mind no matter what, suggesting that he hasn't, but then goes on to digress to "he was probably smashed".

I don't count American beer as alcohol Stu

But it's good to see you are paying attention

In any case, it's good we can agree she wasn't drunk, so that's one issue dealt with.

Someone's got to. Those who have made their minds up only seem to read what they want, rather than what is actually there.

And no, we can't agree "she wasn't drunk" as we have no idea.

Just FYI, you will find I don't have a view on whether this was politically motivated at a higher level

I just don't think the lady concerned would have lied under oath lightly. On the balance of probabilities she believes her own story.

Whether or not others have used her in a cynical way, I can't tell.

As a political point, it seems the Democrats don't like Kavanaugh. My understanding is that he is against the idea of any indictment of a sitting President. Could it be that is why he is so divisive I wonder

I have been thinking about what happens when Trump no longer has the protection afforded to a President. It does occur to me there could be one or two issues that catch up with him.

But you also wrote "There is nothing like victim blaming, eh?" which kind of indicates that you think she is a victim.

It's all clearly politically motivated, I don't think either party care who's telling the truth. The republicans used their majority to block any nomination of Obama's to replace Scalia, they refused to even vote on it. When Trump made his pick the democrats tried to do the same but without a majority the republicans could force it through. Now one month before the mid-terms, where they might possibly lose their majority, the democrats are seeking to delay the vote on his confirmation in the hope that they will soon have a majority to enable them to block it completely.

Kavanaugh worked for George W Bush and has been picked by Trump, of course they don't like him. I don't think it's got anything to do with indicting Trump, it's that the he'd swing the balance of the court to the right and he'd be in the position for life. He's one of the youngest ever nominated too IIRC.

As I said from the start, it's all a bit convenient and no one has seen any facts or evidence, because there aren't any, to decide if either side is telling the truth.

Can't remember whose party it was.

Can't remember where it took place.

If this was such a defining moment of her life, shouldn't she remember at least two of these? Shouldn't it have been etched on her brain from that day forth?

And there are people out there who actually believe her bullsh*t.

When I was 18/19 I got jumped by 3 lads in Thamesmead. Note the vagueness. Given I moved about a bit then I can probably put the date within a 6 month window - but no more. I recall it being dark and roughly where it happened but I can't even swear to the season.

However, I recall the event with absolute clarity. And I knew one of the attackers. 100%.

Did I report it? Of course not. You don't, do you? Yeah it hurt, but the pain to the pride was worse. Had those blokes raped me or sexually abused or humiliated me, you can bet your life I would not have told a soul. But would I have forgotten the incident? Would you?

Back on subject, without a contemporaneous record such as a diary, I would be amazed if she could recall the details you cite with any clarity. She was a teenager and probably went to a lot of parties. 30 years on, which one? Unless there was a trigger association like Halloween why would you recall this? Age and year, I have easily worked it out. Unless she was born at midnight on NYE her 15th year presumably straddles 2 years. But which one? Indeed, if the event actually occurred, its power would probably blanche out those extraneous details.

Meanwhile, that she can't provide those details: doesn't mean it didn't happen; doesn't mean it did. I have no idea. What we can hopefully agree on is that her testimony has been shamefully politicised. Also, if it did happen, then she has been sexually assaulted all over again, but this time in front of an audience of billions.

The fake news media is working in overdrive to continue to smear Kavanaugh. The New York Times has revealed that he was questioned for throwing ice during a fight at a bar in Connecticut in 1985. Yep, throwing ice. He's definitely not suitable for the supreme court! [Link]

Meanwhile, left wingers continue to harrass Republicans in restaurants and airports (Mitch McConnell) just as the Democrat politicians such as Maxine Waters told them to.

Yup, the other accusations generally seem pretty wet. Even if he did wave his willy around, that isn't much of a deal compared with some UK politicians.

Criminal damage to a field of wheat springs to mind.

USA Today columnist calls Brett Kavanaugh a sex offender and shouldn't coach kids basketball. [Link] I thought our media was bad but that's really egregious stuff.

In other news, seeing as the BBC and Sky won't mention it. The Democratic investigation of congressman Keith Ellison into claims of physical abuse to his ex-girlfriend in 2016 has concluded that it's "unsubstantiated". It's because "an allegation standing alone is not sufficient". Why can't her words be believed? [Link]

Ellison is a member of congress, deputy head of the Democratic National Committee and candidate for attorney general in Minnesota. It's one rule for one...

The audience laughed as the president said: "Thirty-six years ago this happened: I had one beer! Well, you think it was…? Nope! It was one beer.

"Oh, good. How'd you get home? I don't remember. How'd you get there? I don't remember. Where was the place? I don't remember.

"How many years ago was it? I don't know. I don't know. I don't know! I don't know! What neighbourhood was it in? I don't know.

"Where's the house? I don't know! Upstairs, downstairs, where was it? I don't know! But I had one beer. That's the only thing I remember. And a man's life is in tatters."

Such a good job America is being made great again innit.

Trump was wrong to mock her he has previously made his point which I agree with so this was overkill.

That said all day long I have heard the media referring to her as the victim. There is no evidence (yet) that a crime has taken place let along who is guilty.
