I used to be able to get a lager called mongoose from an Addiscombe curry house.
very nice, was launched as a rival to cobra(thus the name)but impossible to get unless you order several crates from a supplier.

somebody mentioned 'hurlimans' which we used to know as spine remover as you went all wobbly after a few.

I know a lot of people sneer at it, but I usually keep plain old Hieneken as the house staple.
Those older chaps on here will remember it used to be utter pish at approx. 3.3% then thankfully changed to the 5% which I like.
Never been able to get on with Carlsberg bar the Export version.

Also you dont see Tennants super in pubs anymore(wonder why!) the cricketers on Addiscombe rd used to have it on draft.
crazy.

I love a Sapporo, Japanese I think. Nice but dear.

nice beer & bloody chunky can.
Remember the initial tins(90s?) used to have a fully removable lid so you could drink out the can like a glass.

There are so many to choose from. Down my way on the Kent borders we have some fantastic real ales venues. One in the Wood was CAMRA London pub of the year a while back and Orpington Liberal Club has been CAMRA greater London club of the year last two years running. Lots of others nearby in Hayes and Sidcup.

These places focus on real ales at a decent prices and always have a range of styles and strengths. Which makes me spoilt for choice and unable to have just one favourite!

It used to be Heineken 3.* % and Heineken Export 5%. Now it’s just Heineken all over European cities.

Tenants Super is 9% isn’t it? Pilsner is the 3.something % and the Tenants Extra is 5%. The Tenants Extra was alright.

Holsten Pills on tap used to get you mullered. Had it in the cherry trees.
