Do you honestly believe they will all end up working for the NHS or even anywhere outside the black economy?

I very much doubt whether any of the Albanian migrants will have the necessary university degree to enter the nursing profession.

May not qualify under any section of Immigration Rules. If applying as visitor, must have funds to support length of stay, intention to leave etc, many visa nationals are interviewed by Visa Officers abroad to establish the eligibility under the criteria.
This is for all visa nationals not just Albanians.
I believe most Albanians coming over the Channel are from an impoverished area of Albania so 1) probably would not qualify 2) probably could not afford the visa fee

Thanks Spider. So they never have the £2-3000 to pay the smugglers to start with and presumably have to ‘earn’ that in the UK so that they can pay them back.
The whole thing is like a game of Top Trumps, where the word ‘asylum’ tops everything else. I’m looking forward to the excuse of an amnesty for those already here, as there doesn’t seem to be any deterrent and that will be the only way to get the official numbers down.

Anybody know how Denmark are getting on with their processing centre in Rwanda?

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

And why on earth has that in and of itself been made a precursor to being a nurse. Some of the best and longest served may have only had minimum school qualifications if any. Talk about a shot in your own foot. Who bought this stupid rule in ?

Who was the only person to have ever scored a penalty barefoot against Pat Jennings?

Tony the Tiger in the Frosties advert.

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

Ah, but did she arrive on a boat that beached in Kent somewhere, or did she get a visa, a work permit and go through the legal channels - you know, the sort of immigrant worker that no-ones complaining about?

Who knows? But she was accepted and has worked here for 30 years and paid taxes, so was legit, so a bit of respect might not go amiss .

Royal College of Nursing

It has long been one of my major complaints about the nursing profession that the RCN has raised the bar to entry so high that it rules out loads of people who have the right aptitude for nursing in favour of people who are good at passing exams but don't necessarily have the right aptitude for the job

She could be and so could the 47,000 of her compatriots (that we know about) so that's the NHS sorted out then.

It's a start teddy, but the NHS is 120.000 short,so we need another 70 .000 odd, let em come ,let em come ,let em come, let em all come down , to the dennnnnn!

A start? Where are they going to live or their kids go to school? Are all these nurses also builders and teachers? 47,000 is the population of Yeovil and that's just Albanians. That we know about.
