I recommend you look at the crime statistics in detail, as I have done.

Overall Croydon is nothing special. Some of it has exceptionally low crime rates.

Can't say I am a fan of Thornton Heath, Selhurst or Broad Green at night.

You have been so far away from home for so long you have forgotten how to spell it.

I wouldnít want to walk anywhere north of Croydon centre at night. You can add in bits immediately West and maybe a small part East although the A232 put towards Shirley is probably safe. Yes I have lived and experienced where youíre talking and had a local pub but I wouldnít want to now.

I remember growing up how Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire etc was so far off the beaten track that all the old "ear in the middle of his forehead" jokes would get wheeled out whenever it was mentioned.

And now at the first sign of a deepening gene pool you're running away again? Where you gonna run to this time? I guess you've researched it so which is the town with the least foreigners?

Even if that was true (which is highly debatable - and the representation on here would suggest otherwise) how can people in general even be accurately informed when all our institutions (be they political, traditional / digital media or seats of learning) are now ingrained with the same ideological group think?

That's why people are turning to new media like long form podcasts which I would say are characterized by focusing on facts rather than emotions.

e.g. I went a long time (until about 6 months ago) accepting the general consensus that "orange man bad" but it's based on a lot of propaganda as the media class are almost entirely cut from the same cloth. Trump now has a 52% approval rating in the US despite 90% of his coverage being negative.

Wake up folks.

When Trump was voted in and people brought up how bad it was, I said you donít know yet and he could turn out to be a great AMERICAN president for AMERICAN people. You could almost see their heads swivel on their necks.

When Obama was elected and some went over the top about it I agreed that it was great that a black person who has the talent has got the job in this day and age. But when I added that he may not be a good president and he may not be able to pass through what he desires in free market America it was as if I insulted someoneís mother. Weird.

The morning after Brexit I overheard some silly 20 something girl apologise to an immigrant whoís been here almost as long as sheís been alive, with children born here and all the rest. Truly hysterical and shock craving people around.

My partner has a friend with a black child from a previous relationship. I brought them on holiday with us. Never have I heard the phrase white privilege so many times.
I wanted to point out that they too were partaking of this so-called privilege by me paying for their holiday. However, they are so race obsessed that that would have been construed as a mis-use of my white power so what would be the point.
I never even took the kid's colour into account when I brought them, yet it was continuously brought up.
The mother is a Social Justice Warrior of the extreme. I take people as I find them.
Point being, it is the SJW types and general snowflakes who are race and sexuality obsessed, rather than Brexiteers or so called right.

I have heard race obsession as well. Not for my ears, but Iíve heard it. Not good to hear, but thatís their choice in life, after Iíve treated whoever like Iíve treated whoever else. Madness.

Some people should listen to some Martin Luther King.

I think to add to Wisbechs point about change is that the leave argument was always an easier argument to make, whip up scepticism and anti foreigner sentiment with the migrant crisis a useful tool at the time. Much, much harder to argue the case that years of hard work creating unity, extension of rights freedoms and a free trade area was worth keeping, because you don't appreciate something till its gone. The leave campaign never thought about any cohesive plan or strategy if we left just focused on the populist and negative anti stance, not to mention the dodgy Russian stuff

The leave campaigners were not in power and the EU will make it as difficult as they can for you to plan or even leave smoothly, so try another one.

White privilege is a myth.

Itís continually decreasing, but itís pretty true that if you knuckle down then your life will serve you well. Thinking there are barriers will, guess what, make you not try. Itís taking male mentors to get this through to teenagers who think they cannot or shouldnít do this or that.

Parents who cared would say their children of colour had to try harder and do better to succeed. Now just sticking to the straight and narrow and doing what you should would be a good idea.

So you haven't bothered checking then?

I have. I did it ward by ward. The areas of Croydon that I have always frequented are relatively low crime. Croydon overall is nothing special in comparison with the rest of London.

It's hard to say over time, when you are young you are more in danger of criminal activity and I saw it. Stroud Green used to be pretty scary.

I am not talking about posh or non-posh, just Croydon overall. As with everywhere, exercising caution is recommended.

Come on Maple. Croydon has always had its yobs but it was never as bad as it is now. It might not be special in terms of London but that is probably because London is a cesspit of street crime.

Murder is almost a daily occurrence now whereas once it would have been a national story.

I lived in Stroud Green Way from 1974 until 1990 and it was fine. I know a few people who still live there and sometimes visit when I'm down, and it's still not too bad. None of Addiscombe is anywhere near as scary as the previous areas you mentioned - Fort Neef, Broad Green or Selhurst. And what do you think is the reason that those areas (you named) are the dangerous areas of Croydon ?
