The larger the situation the dirtier the justice, the more perspective matters when considering right from wrong. In many situations there is no justice, there is only power and who welds it. Any study of WW2 will show that. I certainly believe that not carrying out a racial genocide means we have far cleaner hands than the Nazis but no one wins a war in a white hat. I'm proud of my nation's history and my identity, whilst recognising that it's as human as any other.

Much of the reasons for the start of the troubles have withered away over the years and the ballot box and the bomb strategy wasn't working. I think young people were getting fed up with the endless cycle of violence and retaliation. Hardliners will always exit but since the Good Friday Agreement no one is getting elected who believes in violence. I suppose one day the United Ireland view will have a majority and will vote accordingly but that will present it's own problems as Dublin will not want 1mm Unionists unless it is a political deal.

Dublin does not want 1million Arlene Fosters. creationists, homophobic, xenophobic, loonies who still think its 1690 and appropriate for Catholic and Prod to be at each other's throat. but in fairness, its not 1 million Arlene's. Descendants from owners or slaves have no connection with the past, other than family trees. Yet this issue is still banged on about, like somehow people from this generation are culpable. Look at Palace / Brighton rivalry. Comparatively few were around those days to even remember how it all started, but there are plenty trying to carry it on. The catalyst for Bloody Sunday, the Ballymurphy massacre of innocent civilians including women and children crossing a field at the back of their homes, was unknown to us until the inquest. After 48 years the truth and the Army admitted its darkest day in NI. So that's why, the truth must win out.
