My guess, and it is only a guess, is that a large part of the reason for lack of ambition in the transfer market is the uncertainty around the ownership.
I recall Parish saying when the Americans joined that he and the two Americans had to agree upon any significant expenditure and effectively all three had to sign the cheque.
It’s unclear what ‘significant’ means in this context but even signing e.g a £20 million player over a 5 year deal could cost £40 million when you factor in the wages.
If the American want out, and to make no further investment, it’s doubtful they would authorise such expenditure.
If this is the case the club is in limbo and may not even be able to fully reinvest the AWB money if it’s used to repay loans from the Americans as some have suggested.

The Americans came in with no intention on providing money for transfers SP stated this they was their as investors for the likes of the ground etc not players.

In the end when Big Sam was in they had to front some money that was all the Americans no one else this was stated by Big Sam and SP did mention about Americans providing the funds which would be final time they do so.

I can't see it being about ownership if that was the case we would see some stories about it and SP has gone very quiet.

We are run poorly it's that simple remember SP had no experience at all with running football club we was lucky to be promoted and everything year it's the same mistakes plus this whole late transfer stuff he appears to like maybe it gives him excuse if deals don't happen which we have seen that being the case many times.

We are a top flight team yet we act are run like lower leagues one every department feels like its all super low wage no quality.

The other thing that is annoying is the club pays SP PR firm around quarter million yet PR for the club is awful.

I have no problem if SP is a share owner but he needs to be gone from anything else also remove him having a lot of the shares that he has big say he is holding us back.

Now on to Hodgson he's like a yes man why is he not more involved no way would a lot of other managers allow what is going on. other things about him is not giving people a proper chance Wan Baka only got a chance due to so many injuries otherwise he would of never been playing.

We can’t sign a CB for less than the wages and transfer fee in real terms (taking Prem inflation into account) than we did on Sakho?

Is Sakho the only CB we could sign then, now or ever? Okay fella.

We either do that at some point, which is probably going to happen anyway because he’s rumoured to want to go back to France, or we buy very expensive players and never sell them and it catches up with us in the future, as is happening now.

Again, is Sakho the only centre back in the world? If we had our sh1t together like other clubs we’d know Sakho’s value and have a few CB’s we’ve been looking at, rather than this view, or lack of any strategy to be precise, that the players we have, who we loan in successfully, or top 4 clubs are willing to give us, are the only options on this planet.

I’m talking about our overall policy of signing top 4+ Players, not this window.

I’ve said many times I accept this window for what it is, and I’ve seen you cosying up next to my posts. I don’t like or respect that much how we’ve got to this or stayed up the way we have, being the 8th highest payers, highest spenders/revenue etc etc because it isn’t at all creative or intuitive to just throw money about, but we are where we are and must face reality, and I’ll say it again if you’re struggling. I’ve been facing this reality for months.

I now haven’t a clue what your point is and what you’re going on about. I’ll see you trolling more of my posts soon enough.

I think its your head being in the clouds. I'm speaking from facts. We are at seem to like that and prefer to point out all the negative aspects as well as the possible problems the might have happened and might have got us relegated. While your points are valid they didn't happen and we are a mid table team.
Sure lots of other Prem teams may have been laughing at our struggles and tipping us to go down throughout the season. But I prefer that to be the case during the season and us laughing at them come the end because we have finished above them (in some cases with them going down) than the other way around because for the last 3 seasons we have finished mid table.
It might come as a surprise to you but no one was calling Liverpool champions just because the led the table for part of the season. They certainly aren't now! This is why you have no right to call our club a struggling bottom 4/5 team. Its where you end up at the end that matters

So we never struggle at the bottom then?

And that form and point average is never in danger of dipping just slightly enough to move us from 16th to 18th, whether it’s a run in of big teams or not?

The whole league want to get to 40 points asap. Ask any of them if they feel safer achieving this or nail biting for 33-36 matches before looking like we’re brilliant and we delude ourselves over another summer.
