Sky Arts last night devoted a whole evening to the film bringing together much of the original cast.

Brilliant watching.

A fine film. It was originally released in a double bill with Scum. One had more laughs than the other. Lesley Ash was very lovely back then.

there is a good paperback(think its called ' your face here') that covers a dozen brit.cult films, Quadrophenia being one of them.
A lot of detail & trivia regarding the film.
The alley were he shags leslie ash standing still drives the owners nuts to this day with many trying the replicate that particular bit

That was a very good book - also covered If... which is a film I’ve always found fascinating.

Without googling/wiki . . . IF, is that the film(Malcolm McDowell?) in a public school, with the 'violent' ending?

Yes, that’s the one. It’s a strange film, hallucinatory in parts. Occasionally it switches to black and white which some critics found very meaningful - the director, Lindsay Anderson, later said was because he’d run out of money.

Ah, the black n white scene in the café, with the waitress, the school guv'ness in the boys changing room.

I do remember other bits as well

Indeed. And de Niro’s character in Taxi Driver was named after McDowell’s in If. Mick Travis / Travis Bickle.

She was indeed!! She made her right mess of herself in the end with the plastic surgery and the odd right hander off of Lee Chapman!

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Neither of them have been lucky. Remember Lee Chapman face planting on the asphalt at Tottenham? Looked quite gruesome.

Quadrophenia was for me always one of those "I can't believe you've never watched it" films. Then a friend lent me the DVD a year or so ago. Sorry, but I found it really boring.
