Are you sufficiently in tune with the vicar of Bray that you could support them all? Sounds more like the leader of the opposition who could give lessons in tergiversation.

I am more than delighted to support a Boris Johnson led Conservative party in the impending GE and I shall campaign for them with vim and vigour as I have always done over the years. Suffice to say my perusing and posts on HOL will be limited during the election campaign as my efforts will be concentrated on campaigning for my party.

Labour ARE a mess. Watching Peston itv. Literature in Canterbury says they are for remain whereas their official statement is they’re against or will campaign against no deal or a bad deal. (That in itself is open to being manipulated by the EU) If his team gets this right then Boris could get the majority.

The Labour stance on Brexit is more akin to navigating a maze. I do understand that with black and white positions around them, it's not necessarily straightforward to get across a message that resonates, but that's their job. It's hard to cast your vote for a party if they hold a muddled stance on the issue of the day. Still, the election is fair way off and nothing has been easy to predict over the past 3 years, so who the hell knows what comes next!

No it isn't. It's literally two sentences. Negotiate a deal that protects workers rights and environmental standards. Then put it back to the people. This is where the press have been so effective. They have convinced people that we as a population are too stupid to understand anything with more detail than 3 monosyllabic words, guffed out at us like a tourist taking a picture of some apes in a zoo. If we are as serious as we claim to be about understanding and navigating brexit (and we have a 10 million page thread on it if anyone was in doubt), surely It's incumbent on us to be informed on the nuance and detail of the situation? This election isn't just about Brexit. We have more people in in work poverty since the war. The NHS is literally being sold off to big pharma. And the Tories have their manifesto being written by a Fracking lobbyist. We can't let these c***s keep on running our country. Edited by serial thriller (31 Oct 2019 7.27am)

Women in politics. LBC and a number of the papers have been running stories about the number of women MPs who are not standing at the next GE. According to these MPs its is about the abuse they have received because they are women. LBC are normally pretty good but shamefully they forgot to point out that these "women" are actually MPS who have either left the party they were elected with and or voted against Brexit when the majority of their constituents voted remain. This has nothing to do with sexism and much to do with betraying your voters. I am disappointed they are not standing because they would largely have lost after consistently telling us that they represented the majority of voters in their area. That is a statement I cannot prove as they are not standing hence my disappointment. My guess is that they would rather stand down and blame social media abuse "I have to protect my family etc." rather than face the humiliation of a big loss which would possibly hurt their future job prospects. I expect the men have received just as much abuse, can't stand the heat...
