Didn't think much of the debates really. Corbyn didn't make a complete tit of himself, but didn't really convince, me at least, that he has what it takes to win an election. Boris stuck to his few points, mainly Get Brexit Done. I think a typical debating strategy of 'framing' a debate, rather than some form of conversation.

I do think this is an outdated form of 'debate', however, I did enjoy the small jewels that were not caught on by Corbyn, from Boris. The obvious ones were; Why are you delaying the Corp Rate Tax cut? The whole Tory speel is that it doesn't matter about the %, but the money coming in. This is actually a policy a agree with, with my own provisos, mainly because, if the Corp Tax rate is put down to 10%, you instantly kill 90% if not more of the tax havens, so the business pours into the UK, however, I would not allow party donations from businesses, just individuals.

The other one was Boris saying the economy was amazing because of low interest rates. I think I've made my case on why this is a complete fallacy and that should have been contested, but, it just goes to show that neither party, or probably all parties, have any grasp of why low interest rates are a bad signal. It's quite depressing.

With regard to Stirling's point on Corbyn having an enquiry into crimes of the British empire. I don't see a major problem with it, however, these things are never that simple. If you want to do this, surely it's better to do it in an independent review of World crimes, e.g. all members of NATO doing it. Also, what will be done on the results of the review?

To what purpose though?

If you're going to look at empire then why fixate upon the British?

As for the idea of an 'independent' UN panel....I'm not one who thinks that's possible, these things are inherently subjective.

As ever, who is selecting and judging the judges and what are their biases?....You'd need an 'independent' panel for that.....it's a looping nightmare.
