My point as you know is that the handringers are all over private companies using there legal rights. It appears in this case with google and twitter banning right wing thinkers including the POTUS; that no one has the bollx to say it's wrong even if they think it is. The media are now the judge, jury and executioner. What a sad indictment on our society. No one in any position of power will even bad mouth that scum bag organisation antifa. If your happy with that then I hope you get all you wish for as it's not always what you really want. Remember 'when they came for me.......'

The media are definately running the show over here mate, just look how boris changes his mind daily after media pressure, even a footballer, its just the way it is now, we agree mate, we agree!

Not at all.
The whole thing is a complete mess isn't it.
I just think that more could and should have been done to protect people and property.
To think they could storm the Capitol building is quite something and it could have been prevented.
I do also call out the rioters by the way!

Yeah, not sure why the didn"t have the national guard ready, its not a place I would fancy storming on my hols for sure, would expect a bullet in the back and couldn"t argue about it to be fair!

I would think he would have been a bit concerned for the security he knew there but also initially pleased at the power he has.

He has genuine power that doesn't require orders to military.

On rare occasions the military is required.

So, you think Trump has consistently done what he thinks is best? In my judgement, the only thing that has ever concerned him is what he thinks is best for himself. He has completely misjudged the events of last week and shown himself for what he really is - completely unsuited to the role of President or indeed any role that requires steady judgement and working in the interests of the population at large rather than his own selfish interests.

I reckon the next 10 days will be interesting to put it mildly. I somehow don't think he will leave quietly without creating some further mayhem.

The don only cares about the don, absolutely unsuited for the post, think he might melt away in last 10 days thou, and heard flight booked in to aberdeen day before bidens inauguration!

The more and more I think about this latest turn of events, the more I think it stinks.

Lets go with a UK comparison. The Queens annual opening of Parliament. An event that has a dedicated security detail for the entire year. Effectively a lock-down on the area around the Palace of Westminister and all kinds of measures put into place.

Now I cannot imagine the security detail of the Senate not being used to demonstrations. And with all the hype around the recent election, the events of that particular day even more on the radar, so would hazard a guess that you would rate that day with a very high threat level. Makes sense right?

And yet those protesters get that close? And up against the kind of security that would be lax at most Premier and Championship football matches in this country? With the US police meant to be far more gung-ho than our own 'Bobbies'?

This really does not add up. Not in the slightest.

I'm not sure it would be something we should be laughing about! It's very unlikely with empty coffers that the US will be rushing to war within the next couple of years. Nor is the democratic party particularly some kind of war inclined party anyway.

You do speak a lot of sense of covid though, in a very responsible way so I'll leave it at that .

yes, cryrst has impressed me with his covid stance to, lets himself down on other nonsense but argues well on covid-even against his allies!

There will be some on here saving your comments in the 4th paragraph. Who knows they could come back to haunt you!

As it's true it won't haunt me at all.

I will criticise who-ever fails to meet that standard.

So imagine if a load of blm supporters stormed parliament on that day, killing a police officer, leaving a couple of pipe bombs, sitting on the crown, would you say they were just demonstrating ? Or would you say chuck the book at them?Long prison sentances or tried for treason?

Just my take but I don't think the military want to get involved in major political feuds within the country.

I think in conversations with both sides they have made that plain.

However what happens with enforcement at the state level may be different.

Yes, like on Capitol Hill on January 6th . That might have been a good time!

When people effectively admit that Trump wields physical force through his supporters, it's doesn't sit well with then saying that he's in no way to blame for anything that happens as result.

There is an inextricable link between his extreme rhetoric and the actions of those that bought too far into the 'they're evil' fantasy he's selling. Is he really so different to a hate preacher stood in front of doe eyed d!ickheads who own one too many backpacks?

I concede that it may have got more out of control that he hoped (though from reported it sounds like he delighted with the carnage), but it's a little too late in the day to backtrack once people are committing acts of domestic terror in support of you personally.

It should at least be pause for thought for him. As should the deaths of his supporters. Neither will be.

And the bloke even fought covid off in the midst of it all didn't he? I'm thinking he should either become a motivational speaker, or join WWE!
