Too many police personnel will just love this opportunity to be little hitlers.
They just will not be able to stop themselves and sadly will likely have already been set targets.
I agree with the restrictions pretty much but let people be.

Yes this arresting and fining people for being out walking is overzealous policing. Police simply being there will make people think. Hassling 2 people walking or sitting on either end of a bench drinking a tea or coffee is taking it too far. It isn’t even now it’ll be an issue. It’ll be in spring when some might start having group drinks etc, if this is still going on, which it shouldn’t but probably will. It’ll be then that deaths should be low but positives will probably be still be tested. Not until autumn will all be satisfied they don’t have to live like this or expect everyone else to live like this.

1 in 5 of my English girlfriends were certainly not models.

A couple of mine were barely prototypes.

When I look on the bbc website [Link] I cannot find where the government get 1 in 20 in Croydon are infected. They said this a few days ago but;

week up to 4th January it was 1,185 per 100,000.

week up to 6th January it was 1,065 per 100,000.

That’s 1 in 100 people, not 1 in 20. You could assume higher infections in spring 2020 without the tests, but now? And the stats people estimated ten times more than was known about.

It also fell, as do snippets of information about all or most of London tell us.

We need to start talking now about how life will be once jabs make Covid less deadly than the flu.. - [Link]

While all opinion pieces inevitably have a certain slant to them, this no different, I did find it to be well written, fair and to pose a very important question.

In a couple of months all of the most vulnerable and elderly will be vaccinated (albeit probably not both doses, but 'hopefully' very often enough to avoid hospitalisation) and so it will be a different ballgame. Logically, healthwise it will be about as good as it gets, but on the contrary there will no doubt be those who want to hold off until another benchmark has been reached, then another.

Covid is horrendous and has clearly been a devastating intrusion into many lives, but similar can be said of repeated business closures and the like. So I wonder whether when the situation is less deadly for the vulnerable, whether that switch will flick with the general public, and more importantly politicians.

If the rather ambitious target is met and we have vaccinated all the highest risk persons in Mid-February will any restrictions be lifted ?
I very much doubt we will see any difference as the case will be made that it takes time for the vaccine to take effects, besides the initial phase, vaccinating all those with above average risk is not due for completion by March/April.What restrictions will be lifted at this stage?

We know there will be a phased lfting as happened in the summer and I very much suspect, hospitality will be at the back of the queue.I am not expecting to be able to enjoy a tipple or two in a Public House or visit a restaurant until at least the second half of the year.I cannot even escape to pastures abroad.
Depressing.
