And therein lies the problem as you just won't let it rest spoiling it for everyone else in the process

Yeah, but what you freely wrote today went way beyond that ME. I still can't believe you wrote that.

As regards WE, I think you have a point....and it's been made before and I have failed to ignore him.

As I told Willo, I will retry.

I'm no Economics expert and learning fast as many of us are esp. regarding benefits etc. Given the situation though that both Employed and Self Employed currently face for staying at home (necessary) in these challenging times...and the likelihood of not receiving pledged subsidised payment from Treasury until earliest June....I question why it is not possible for Govt to keep vast majority, if not all, afloat with Universal Income for at least this next month given the means of identification of recipients via HMRC and National Insurance registration. Granted the figure per individual needs to be set at reasonable ceiling of approx. 2- 2.5k but it would also have benefit of supporting those troubled by immediate or impending poverty / hardship.

Your thoughts?

Are you saying people won't get money until June? That sounds like madness.

Stirring? Why don't you explain that comment.

I have said consistently that many of the posts on this site are unpleasant, negative and aimed at reinforcing social differences. It seems I am not a lone voice and that the vocal people who claim to speak for the majority are in fact not doing so.

I think the DWP barely manages to operate with any measure of success within Business as Usual. To suggest they could successfully collaborate with HMRC to instantly implement a solution as suggested would be optimistic at best.

The problem is not so much with coming up with a sensible solution, more so getting the necessary sign off from x-govt. etc. and then implementation.

I'm not sure at all how Universal Income works, but I'd suggest it would take an unbelievable amount of effort to put x amount of people on it for one or two months, then take them off, and then adjust other govt. schemes accordingly.

Must say, I have very limited insight here I am just trying to contribute something to this convo and also kill a bit of time!

Here's to you the famous red and blue.....

If this wasn't a very urgent situation for those starved of money it would be a fascinating one purely on the logistics of what's required.

The government have gone down this path and hence they need to deliver on their commitments.

The post was referring to ME.

One more from me then I leave it.

I am neither dim nor being dim.

I hold no animus is what you said. Clearly not true, you meant to say I hold no animus against you but I hold strong animus against at least one other poster.

I have found this deeply unpleasant throughout and even the complaint you use to justify your attitude is totally unfounded. Simply you wilfully misinterpreting what was posted.

You say reinforcing social differences, some would say telling it as it is.
I am not here to defend or support every opinion but I do know disingenuous claptrap and ideological mumbo jumbo when I see it.

As has been said many times before you will either get your bbs clone or you won't. This will be sorted out either way in the background.

Let's get back to the topic.

Why turn this into a Jeremy Corbyn thread?

Self employed won't know what they are entitled to (if anything) until they are notified by HMRC in June. One thinks gof how Govt has been an active cheerleader for the self-employed / freelancers/ gig economy for some time and now this area of employment has a very real emergency on its hands.

Many in education are self-employed e.g. supply teachers; sport coaches; other peripatetic services e.g. science & the arts etc
