I am not excusing anyone.

I am just pointing out that using "whataboutery" is as irrelevant in this as it is in any situation.

The person in the dock is Johnson for failing to sack Cummings.

The fact that a group of journalists demonstrated how people are willing to ignore the rules when it suits them is simply evidence of how important it is to ensure that those who make the rules, follow the rules.

Judging by the pictures of various beaches over the weekend an awful lot of people took their lead from one bloke. Why not from the millions who didn’t break the lockdown? Politicians don’t appear wearing masks but lots of people do so apparently aren’t as easily influenced after all.

Whether he broke the rules or not it's the media lead by the BBC who have blown it up out of all proportion in their attempt to whip up the public and it is they who will bear a huge responsibility if people now start to ignore future requests for isolation.

And on your point about scientists - have you ever come across two scientists that will agree on anything? For every scientist that says it's raining outside there will be a dozen more who will swear blind that the sun is out

It's far from just the BBC is it? Pretty much the whole media is united over this.

It isn't just any 2 scientists, picked at random to offer a particular viewpoint. It's 3 of the government's own advisers who are the ones delivering the advice on which the whole strategy is based. They are key members of SAGE.

So as usual your view point must be correct. Don’t forget that is just your own.

I haven't.

A former Labour Party advisor (can’t remember her name) on GMB showed her true colours when she said “ we are not able to go and stay on daddy’s huge estate are we” please explain the relevance of his father’s wealth in this matter. Or is it the left being unable to accept he may have money. Incidentally she was talking from a very nice house in North London

She was Ayesha Hazarika, educated are private all girls school in Glasgow

Of course, they didn't but that isn't the point is it?

The point is that those who make the rules have to be squeaky clean in following them and ruthless with those in their employ who don't.

If science says that to make excuses for rule-breakers will result in increased deaths and the government says it relies on it's scientific advisers then the fallout is going to be catastrophic if it ignores that advice.

Probably best wait and see if Scientists are correct then

I suppose it is possible that the Scientists just don’t like Cummings

I am not a behavioural scientist and nor, I suspect are you.

If the government's stance is that their position has been, and is, that the strategy is to "follow the science" and they don't, then that strategy is a bust.

It really doesn't matter if you, I or anyone else, believes it an exaggeration. It's what the science has said.

Did they get Neil Ferguson to plug 1% mortality into that with even more junk data beforehand?

We need to get people out there living and working apart from the vulnerable. This is an inadvertent upside to this ‘scandal’, so the left have helped in that regard against theirs and the media’s pro lockdown stance and the media’s difficulty in winding back the fear they’ve put on the public.

I think you should look at the irresponsible media than someone who was thinking of his son and with zero evidence of any mixing with anyone whatsoever. I’d they had that I’d agree he has to go.

Still looks unlikely DC is going to get the chop. Views now entrenched on the matter despite the absurdity of the Barnard Castle trip.

The long game of this is going to be interesting for Bojo and Co as they've spent a lot of political capital on defending DC.

basking barechested with his bronzed buddies.....just after telling everybody else to hide at home under the bed.

what irks me more than having his Abs pinched by his buddy, was his obnoxious stance on Brexit and the Ulster Border. Merkel's puppet has to go.
