If my wife was named 'June', I certainly wouldn't be rolling on her at my time of life.

Tonight we are going for a meal with dear friends whom we have known for over 30 years but certainly NOT because it is 'Valentines Day'.
I did comment to my dear wife that I hope that if there are people in the restaurant who know us that they will NOT conclude that I am some castrol smooth romantic who is treating my wife to a Valentines meal!

I accept however that 'Valentines Day' is special and significant to loving couples and that many will enjoy a romantic meal tonight, gazing lovingly into each others eyes.

When Valentine’s Day is midweek the restaurants are empty. Whether that’s because it’s midweek, people see it for the commercial con it is, being more and more stretched, the obvious reasons of being amongst other couples there for the same reason or the improvement of supermarket food, simply a waste of money or money on a better night out or all of the above. Plus you can’t have your first however many opening innings of sh@gs there you can indoors.

I recall visiting delightful Stratford-Upon-Avon and happened to be there on Valentines Day which was in midweek.Having perused the reviews of restaurants we were attracted to an 'Indian' which had received numerous plaudits. The restaurant was decked out with balloons etc etc but alas my wife and I were the only customers to avail of the culinary delights.

For avoidance of doubt, we have made numerous forays to Stratford-Upon-Avon and never made a special visit to celebrate Valentines! We always avail of a meal in a restaurant every night we are in the town so was not making a special trip for Valentines night!

something is amiss here Willo.
No use of the word HOGWASH!
However there is always a good excuse for a Ruby.

Dearth of the use of the word "Hogwash"

My dear wife has berated me for using this word so when I suggested "Balderdash" she never gave this her seal of approval either.

In terms of a "Ruby", I consume this culinary delight on a fairly regular basis but mainly to devour in my abode.

I didn't realise that you used this antiquated version of the English language in real life as I assumed that it was reserved for your online personna

Rest assured I do NOT have an "Online persona" which is at variance with my persona in my everyday life.
I have used the word "Hogwash" at Selhurst Park on quite a few occasions.
I suspect that what you term "Antiquated" reflects my ripe age.

We certainly don't purchase birthday or christmas presents for one another and haven't done for many a moon, but my 'milk' of human kindness extends to presenting the dear lady with a card for our anniversary and her birthday.

You old rascal Willo.

You were living over the brush for 4 years before tying the knot? Let me guess, your eldest is 35 and you made an honest woman out of Mrs Willo.

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

Perhaps "Aged lothario" would be more appropriate!

Our daughter is 31 this year and this year my wife and I will be celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary.

It's all a load of .....*****..... this Valentine's day stuff - still to keep he-who-must-be-fed happy I sent him a Jacquie Lawson card that read,

Rose are red
Violets are blue
Your a daft old bugger
but I still love you

He seemed quite touched by it

Make sure you get down to Aldi and get a card for your partner. Maybe even some flowers. You may even get lucky tonight. And happy Valentine's Day to all of the HOL.

Unless you have previously come out of a Manchester nightclub worse for wear.
