There's a recession coming and certain types are going to get hit pretty hard. Quite amusing in a way how a lot of them carry water for Labour.

They will want to hold onto as much of their money as possible when the extra taxes come in and it's not a surprise.

In fact it's a basic tenet of champagne socialism.

Seen it with my own eyes with friends before I was red pilled....Would talk all the very left wing stuff and then would research how to pay the lowest taxes they could.

Say all the nicey nice stuff just as someone else has to deal with any negative consequences.

I rarely watch the BBC but they are repeating The Ascent of Man by Jacob Bronowski from 1973 which is fascinating.

This was in the days when the BBC commissioned proper programming they would grab an intellectual / expert who was a good communicator and tell them to get on with it.

I suppose if they did it again today it would be presented by some bimbo from love Island.

"Err these Homo Sapiens, is that like blokes who like other blokes?".

I hadn't realised that this program and Kenneth's Clark's civilization were both commissioned by Sir David Attenborough, no dumbing down then and both were hits with the viewers.

I doubt it would be done by a bimbo. We should be so lucky. More like a member of the travelling community, someone disabled, someone gay or whatever, or worst of all Tony Robinson. Certainly not an actual expert. They like famous historians too - which doesn't equate to actual top or expert historians. Once they get them, they then end up in everything - whether it's their specialist area or not. Bethany Hughes springs to mind. They seemed to like her. Dan Jones another. They often present programmes where it's clearly not their area.

Not a good day for the BBC or the other tradditonal broadcasters.

The BBC can spin it as much as they like but they are losing millions of viewers and listeners.

Particularly worrying for them is the sharp decline in older customers their most faithful demo graph. Of course the beeb hasn't helped itself by chasing the youff (who aren't interested).

At this rate of decline the government wont have to abolish the licence fee because nobody will be paying it as they don't use the BBC.

Hardly, considering the License fee is collected at the tip of a sword. Or at least the threat of you playing Juliet to Dwayne (180 kg), at the showers in Broadmoor.

During the Potato Famine, irish peasants were forced to pay a few shillings toward the upkeep of the Protestant Church. Whose sermons they never listened to.

Recognise it when you are conquered & subjugated.

I've heard today that BBC have made another big boo-boo by describing the Dambusters as 'INFAMOUS'!

Then the first thing they'll do is copy Ireland. If you have any device capable of receiving a signal you pay a fee. A broadcast licence or whatever. [Link]

The BBC needs to change its business strategy, embracing the SVOD market and ensure that it doesn't move closer to the Daily Mail model.

iPlayer is still THE industry leading platform for videos on demand. Having been a former employee of the BBC for a large portion of my career and working with a lot of the SVODs, they are in envy of the platform market.

Traditional broadcast is dead, the BBC cannot maintain its hold on sport and should look to increase commercial opportunities under OFCOM guidance. Taking great care in who it partners up with commercially.

I would split it up, much like Sky has entertainment packages and sport packages, keeping News as a separate entity that is funded by the tax payer to ensure neutrality in its reporting. Whilst people bemoan that the BBC is both pro and against Brexit, it only shows that it reports with both camps in mind.

the current PM had a green card even when in No 11 to reduce his tax bill, Sajid Javid has non dom status despite never having lived in pakistan, Cameron had an offshore account, Rees Moggs company is based offshore etc etc the list is endless.
Maybe they're all champagne socialists!

Don't let your lack of knowledge fetter your posts.

Can you explain why having a green card would reduce a tax bill in the UK? Thanks

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.
