‘Varying degrees of blaming the manager or not on here. But do you seriously think Roy sends the team out to play like it did first half? No I don’t. So he could use his subs. Change the game plan. Something radical like that’ But that’s a different argument. Tactics and subs is a different discussion to whether the players have let down Roy On that argument I still think we lack quality options and the lack of investment in players for years is a worrying trend and again not something that can be blamed on Roy I am not saying he doesn’t deserve some blame and criticism as I worry about changes in tactics etc, but the amount of blame on here solely aimed at Roy seems over the top to me and I think the players seem to be getting an easy ride

He definitely doesn't read the press. Or at least he used to ignore it. We've got a "gentleman" at the helm who in his younger days, flew half way round the world to play football in South Africa. Ignoring all the sanctions and boycotts because "he was desperate to play". He built a long illustration and mostly fraudulent career on the back of it. I'm sure Nelson Mandela and his comrades would say their prison sentences and persecution was worth it, if Roy got to kick a ball around. Maybe he was just oblivious to global news.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

The problem I have with the Roy Out stuff is that there are no coherent / consistent arguments about what he is doing wrong other than blase statements and cliches about game plans and subs and then talking up average or poor players who he isn't picking. With regard the players I think they are largely an honest (there are exceptions IMO Benteke, PVA, Sakho) group of fairly average players who have done well for the club but there is a lack of quality and guile in the final third. As others have pointed out you also can't carry that many players who are on the way down at the same time particularly when they were one paced to start with. I do think his continual selection of Luka may bite him. I think things are very stale and results / performances worrying so get why some want a change but also remember the mess the likes of Eddie Howe got into last season.

Most reports have us about 16th in the league when it comes to investment in players (transfer fees and wages). As the published financial report shows, that's cpfc flat out. We can't spend any more than we already do. Hence the need for an academy and a new stand. You get what you pay for mostly, and our players are as good as they are. One or two will hit an uplift in their career from time to time, and get noticeably better, just like one or two will do the opposite. By and large though they are what they are, and the managers job is to organise them rather than improve them. He is there to get out of them that which they have to give. Hodgson, just like Pulis and Alardyce before him, has achieved that by playing a fairly dour brand of football which can be tedious from game to game but effective in the long term. That's three experienced managers looking at what we've got and coming to the same conclusion tactically. Given that, for long spells, Hodgson hasn't had the same backing as some of his predecessors I think his results deserve respect, even if you're only comparing the financial outlay with the actual league positions. Still, quite a few people on here obviously know better.

Eddie Howe would have better players to work with here and he is the correct age, I do not see why his players last ditch mistakes last season would deem him suddenly unable to manage again.

Nobody said he was unable to manage again but Bournemouth went down because they couldn’t stop shipping goals despite having spent heavily. He looked almost clueless in the run in. His “style” would be unlikely to suit our ageing group IMO and they were absolute rubbish in the two games against us last season. Just trying to demonstrate that any change represents a risk as West Brom found when they sacked Pulis and appointed Pardew.
