That is why I think when we’ve found a better manager we can hire then we should, and not wait for when Roy decides he’s finished or he suddenly becomes unwell and we’re scrambling around, which if he’s unwell, could be be mid season and very disruptive.

I also agree that Roy doesn’t improve or progress players. He might do for his own way of not playing football, but he doesn’t, apart from AWB, who was naturally the best tackler and stopper at RB in England, but didn’t develop going forward. Which of our players have developed or have been courted by other clubs? None? I won’t be surprised if Eze wants to get the bell out of here asap. Luckily Roy is the age he is, or Roy could be here longer to slowly erode the intangible things people don’t notice until it’s too late.

LoftusCheek, came to Palace, a talented fringe player at Chelsea.
He left us a full blown international after one season under Roy’s wing. And no fluke. Man of the match against a very competitive German Side, in his first outing, Only injury has stopped his progression. Ruben, said days ago he can’t thank Roy enough, for what he did for his game.
Even where AWB , is concerned it’s not valid to say Roy didn’t develop his raw talent. Just because it doesn’t fit , the narrative of Roy, being the clubs biggest problem.
Every player has his limits, every squad has its limits , and no manager in the world can take players or squads beyond those limits, once they are reached. I suspect Klopp, might be experiencing this now.
Not even the very best, with what had been the very best of ,players, and squads. Arsene, at Arsenal, could only take it so far, once the talent tap was stopped. Even Ferguson, couldn’t get any more out of his lot . It’s all relative mind , Hodgson , has had nothing like those, he has had more or less the same bunch of triers for four years. He hasn’t held the odd one with real talent back at all ,the opposite in fact.

Good post but it won't make any difference to the Roy Out mob I'm afraid!

We didn't show against Brighton last season or this season but still stole 4 points in each! Let's face it, these days it seems it's more effective NOT to show against them.

True BUT is he now finding his feet in the Bundesliga? In Leipzig's last two league matches against Freiburg and B. Moenchengladbach, Sorloth scored in both AND assisted in both. He got his first start in a while in the latter game and played the full 90. Will be interesting to see how he fares from hereon in. Having said that I think we did well to offload him and get most of our money back

By " line up " I mean identify targets, talk to them and if a deal is there to be done then decide on the incumbent.

Recent example is Darren Moore

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

It's 9 starts and 3 goals. 2 goals and 3 assists in the last two. RB Leipzig are second in the league.

There's not much you can read into is. Some people, including me, think with a run in a team at a higher level he could get going. That could take more time than we could afford to give him though. Physically, he seemed to have all the attributes of a great athlete, technically and tactically he needed to improve. I think we was worth a punt at £10m and it was a shame it didn't work out.

What I would say is another cross into Benteke resulted in a goal. Roy or no Roy, only Giroud had more goals from headers. Surely some analysts somewhere had to tell the management what to do if we want him to score goals.

Anyone notice how Chris Coleman was nice about Palace and constructive. Auditioning ? Or just keeping his options open.

We have defenders who are ageing and can be caught on there heels from time to time. Midfielders who aren’t quick enough and don’t create enough for the attackers. I don’t think Hodgson can do much about this, the blame is starting to lay at the hands of the owners, we need more investment. Roy can’t turn average players into world beaters that can compete at the top, top level. Even if Pep came to us nothing would change that dramatically without some funds.
